Haha, you're planning to go to the same combo where I've been using now. CheckROM + ICS Damnation 1.8.
It's good and stable but like I said, with all the black and blue theme, it's gonna get a bit eye sore after having it for awhile.

Are you using the Adfree host in CheckROM Kitchen? I think that is causing the problem.
Go Android Market and search for Download All Files, it will help solve the problem.

I probably will not update. V31 got an ugly background (not that it can't be change) and apart from slightly newer base rom there isn't much difference.

i've been using the Check ROM Rev. HD around a month or more. Honestly, this is the most stable, battery saving ROM i ever had. but since i'm tempted by Turkbey ICS look out, i choosed to revert to Turkbey. if its ok for the next 2 weeks, i'll stick with it. not enough time to try other ROM any more.

to wipe dalvik, go to "advanced" and select "wipe dalvik cache".
and now u're complaining that too frequent updates
