news from check ROM dev. next v5 ROM will be ICS. Currently, they wait for something better than XXLP2.
So, loyal Check ROM fans should calm down now.  biggrin.gif
*
It is a little hard to calm down when my CR4 can't connect to my college wifi but my CM9 can. So I am stuck with sad battery life now.

Wondering if flashing another GB ROM will help?

Downloading Bezke's ICS to see if the battery life is any better. Otherwise I will need another GB ROM to replace my CR4. Even 4 seasons still on KK5

Sigh... yawn.gif

I used v4 before. no problem connect to wifi uni. sometimes cannot connect not because of phone. but wifi is turtle speed.  doh.gif

Well, my college uses 802.11-EAP. Must enter username and password before you can even connect to the router. Im sure yours is enter the stuff at some page in the web browser.

I tried replacing kernels and nothing worked. Restored my CM9 nandroid and it works perfectly. So fcuked up.

Hmm, the Criskelo ROM looks very good. There is even the app to mod it, just like CheckROM...

Got the ICS theme and the call mod and all. I think I am saying goodbye to CheckROM by tomorrow night if my Bezke's ICS battery life is bad...

Bezke's ICS is so much nicer than CM9. I miss the TW elements from my CR4.

Will do a battery test once my battery is fully charged. smile.gif

Hi, between Otterbox versus Casemate Tough Case,  which one will you choose?
*
Definitely the Casemate.

The otterbox has a permanent issue where it is loose around the front earpiece area. The case there flaps up above the samsung logo.

@ Thelaptopdudeguy and all the other people using Bezke's ICS and also any other ICS and also whoever is tempted to try out ICS

I am running the Bezke's ICS and I am loving how stable it is. Never hanged at all, not a single FC, battery life is very decent (1hour 32 mins of screen on auto on 50% battery), Youtube and all hardware video acceleration working perfectly, Flash in the browser working perfect, no reboots at all, standby current consumption is 19mA, Face Unlock working perfectly.

I am not going back to my Gingerbread until I see a real reason to do so. Currently, Bezke's ICS runs 100% perfect for me and all my apps work without issue. The only niggle I have is I can't find a battery% mod because this is a Samsung ROM and not AOSP.

So to those non-g versions, I higly recommend you check the ROM out!!

Forgot when the new bootloader was introduced. Custom rom normally dun change bootloader. So it depends on the last official rom you used.
*
The battery mod sounds good but I don't think Bezke made his ROM deodexed. Will it work if I try anyway?

No harm making nandroid backup n test. But normally these mods will work for odex rom as well. Just that bexke is LP1 right, the mode is LP2.
*
Yeah, doing a nandroid now. He says his ROM is odexed, and yeah, it is LP1.

wondering how to transfer the file seeing how USB connections still don't work. I find it weird that there is no option to connect in Mass Storage mode even though USB debugging is on. The other options that appear are Media Device and some camera device to transfer pics. The media device does not work but the camera device works perfectly.

Run the exe and it will extract to a .tar file biggrin.gif

Gigi biru. I am sure that file is not big.

Haha, I am going to use my swiFTP. Real life saver because can transfer files on the go even when the other device has no USB OTG support or whatever. I even make my phone into a wifi hotspot and share files.

In college, I connect to the wifi there and access my files without even touching the phone.

LIKE A BOSS!!!

Execute the exe you will get the tar

Well, that went worse than I thought. Flashed it and my screen was blank but the messages were appearing on the screen. Status bar and launcher did not work...

Not a single FC or messages. I just did a wipe when coming from CM9. Ultra smooth for me here with only occasional slight lags.

I guess ICS based on stock ROM just sucked?
*
It is way way better than CM9. My CM9 could not play Youtube videos and the Flash in the browser did not work. Now my new ICS can do everything my Gingerbread could.

Also my CM9 had this stupid bug where when answering calls, it would go to loudspeaker. Must click the icon to transfer to loudspeaker and back to handset only then the earpiece will work.

If you are worried about the launcher, my ICS also has that same launcher.

So why would you say it sucks?

I just flashed Criskelo's KL1 ROM after making a nandroid of my ICS. He seemed to have themed it to look like ICS but it does not look very nice in some areas. I flashed the battery meter mod, and my phone colour theme changed slightly and now it looks like a rainbow. Text is blue, subtext is green, and overscroll is green...

If I do a wipe and start over, can I flash the ICS Empire v1.8? Will I face problems seeing how even the stock ROM has some theming?

I would actually much prefer my CheckROM but seeing how I cannot connect, I have no choice but to switch.

@Pikachu, you mentioned somehting about the wifi files not being modified correctly. Is there any way I can replace those files with the one from my Criskelo so I can work with my CheckROM?

Thanks

The WPA supplicant file? Yeah, you can get it from a stock ROM and replace it. However, I forgot the path (it's supposed to be /etc/ something.)
*
Thanks for replying.

Under my /etc/wifi, I see many files and one of them is wpa_suppliant.conf. Is that the file you were referring to?

I am going to copy the entire wifi folder to my memory card and flash my CheckROM again. Start all over. If I just replace all the files in the wifi folder with the ones I backed up from my Criskelo, will there be any side effects?

Thanks again

I think some of you might remember about my problem connecting to a wifi network that was protected using 802.11-EAP.

Pikachu suggested replacing the wifi files with the one from my Criskelo ROM because it works in Criskelo. Tried that this morning and nothing worked. So I am now back in Criskelo and looking for a proper ICS theme.

Can anyone confirm that this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334922

Works properly on Criskelo's latest ROM?

Thanks

Hehe, I have no more stock ROM's with me. I deleted off my KH2 and my KI3 already. Never mind, I got my ICS theme on my Criskelo already, and now I much prefer it over CheckROM.

But even then, why did it not work even though I replaced the files with the one from my Criskelo?

Yeah, I was one of them too, until I realised the wifi was configured incorrectly in that ROM and I could not connect to certain wifi routers. Now using Criskelo and the phone can connect to all and it connects faster than on CheckROM
