Iphone 4S users, get ready!!

Corona A5 jailbreak nearly ready to pop!

read more here http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

QUOTE
Ever since the December release of @pod2g’s “corona” untether for iOS 5.x on A4 and earlier devices, all eyes have been on the attempts to extend it to the A5 devices: the iPhone4S and iPad2.  Due to the combined efforts of @pod2g and members of the iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team, we’re nearly ready for a general release!  All technical hurdles dealing with the underlying technique have been overcome, and it’s now all about making the jailbreak as bug free as possible.

On his blog, @pod2g playfully nicknamed the combined effort a “dream team”.  It’s an ironic name, because the past few weeks have left everyone involved with very little sleep and the opportunity to dream smile.gif But we’re now near the final stages of testing the public version of the jailbreak.  Please allow time to clean up any remaining bugs in the jailbreak clients.

Jailbreak programs:

To be as flexible as possible, the A5 version of the corona jailbreak will take multiple forms:

Chronic Dev have incorporated the overall flow into a GUI that runs on your Mac or PC
iPhone Dev have incorporated the exact same flow into a command-line interface (CLI).  This will allow us to help users through individual steps of the jailbreak manually, to both help the user and help improve the overall flow.  Although the CLI will also allow the user to perform the entire jailbreak from beginning to end, we anticipate it will be more useful in debugging the occasional errors.  The CLI currently has over 20 individual options (in addition to the single “jailbreak” option) that should be useful during debug after the GUI release.
Once all the bugs in the flow are worked out, we’ll also incorporate it into the redsn0w GUI (but still leave the CLI freely available too).  In order to maximize the chances of the jailbreak working for everyone, the redsn0w GUI will use native Apple iTunes libraries — this technique is slightly different than how the Chronic Dev GUI handles communications, and should provide nice combined coverage for all the odd computer configurations out there.

Firmware:

The supported firmware versions will be:

iPhone4S: 5.0 (9A334), 5.0.1 (9A405) and the “other” 5.0.1 (9A406)
iPad2: 5.0.1 (9A405)
iPhone4S owners looking to maximize their chances of achieving an eventual software-based carrier unlock should be staying at 5.0.  Everyone else should be at 5.0.1.  If you’re an iPhone4S owner who already updated to 5.0.1, it’s too late to go back down to 5.0, but if you’re on 9A406 it is possible to downgrade the BB by going to the 9A405 version of 5.0.1 while the window is still open.

Support:

The overall flow used by the GUI and CLI to inject the A5 corona jailbreak has never been done before, and there may be unforeseen problems once it’s released to the public.  It’s very important for you to sync your data, photos, and music before attempting any version of this jailbreak.  We’ll be watching the comments section below for signs of any widespread problems, but please be aware that you jailbreak at your own risk!

When:

As mentioned at the start of this post: when testing has shown most of the bugs have been fixed!
A5 untethered jailbreak is almost ready and in the final stage of cleaning the bugs..

finger crossed!!

seems like the initial release should be prone to alot of errors as this method as said by them has never been done before, so thats why they strongly urged us to backup before use it..

so, is it wise to jump to the early adopter, or rather wait for it to get stable first then join the bandwagon, what do you all think?

from iphonedev update, this is really a new approach to jailbreak, in technical i mean, we now all wait for the gift from the iphone jailbreak "dream team"

lets be patients, i too cant wait to install sbsetting on my 4s.. smile.gif

we have waited, then end is near, lets get ready to be free!!

agree with u az
i think im joinin the early adopters as well

bro jso

once 5.1 is out, restore is only to that version

unless u have shsh for 5.0.1 then u may be able to restore to it but with extra steps with tinyumbrella

im sure once a5 jb is release, cydia will again under heavy load from all a5 devices who wanna jailbreak

the earlier we know the better traffic we can hav i think

Nope. With ios 5, even having SHSH will not work for you to downgrade. Apple has stop relying only on SHSH to verify your ability to downgrade. APTicket is also needed and I think only iFaith is able to get the SHSH and APTicket to create a custom firmware. IFaith doesn't work on A5 devices so once Apple comes out with 5.1, pray that your 4s doesn't need to be restored.

That's why you should be an early adopter, if something goes wrong, you can still restore since Apple is still signing 5.0.1

really? then must pray that our jb will get stable before 5.1

i thought once tinyumbrella can save shsh we can restore using it, thx for pointin that out

btw, hopefully it can jb both 405 n 406 version. im on 406 now. from the update ive posted thay should work on both

mine ended with something about filemover

actually at which point must we toggle the VPN?

i just toggle it, i hope my jb is complete one, not the half backed one..

settle.. done my 2nd jailbreak for the night from a clean restore.. hehe

fix it by just go to settings --> General --> Reset --> Erase All Content and Settings then setup profile again

all went fast..

the VPN is the one injecting the exploits for the jailbreak to work.. "pod2g is in da house!" yehaaa!! PWNED!!!

sean looi,

run this to install the VPN profile to pod2g exploits
5) After so, type this command into cmd.. "cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig"
6) On your device, click on install, and when prompted to type in a password, just click next, with no password in.

then get your iphone 4s ready the environment with this
7) After so, type this command: "cinject.exe -j payloads"

then it will promt you to execute stop 9, the cinject -w
9) Now after a few minutes from step 8, now type this command: "execute the command: cinject.exe -w"

after executing step 9, just toggle the VPN
10) On your device, after doing step 9, toggle the "VPN" switch on in the settings, in about a few seconds after, it should say error.

when the error prompts, a few second later it will restart
11) Wait, then it should restart. Cydia is now installed, and your device is now free!

then after reboot, u should see the cydia icon
click on it to install the filepartition by cydia

it will respring, then you are ready to go, go to cydia again, and choose your preferred profile

your are now free!! hello root!!
