what version the telcos can add, we could do it at home. my point is, why go all the way to telco to do it?

The new build for 5.0.1 is 9A406, if you have 9A405 on 5.0.1, iTunes will not be able to update it as it only sees that you have the latest firmware (5.0.1) and not the latest build.
All you have to do is download the firmware with the latest build from Apple

Once downloaded, you need to do a Shift + restore and select the firmware build 9A406 that you downloaded.
Now, why would you want to go to the Telco to do all the above? That's just silly.

After getting a replacement ip4s from digi, i just found out that the replacement phone is from hong kong.. Not malaysia anymore.. My model become MD261ZP..

It's a refurbished unit. Refurbished sets can be from anywhere. However, they are unlocked, even if they are from a country where their units are locked to carrier(s) and there is no problem using any sim card with them.

But iphone 4 refurbished, their model ends with LL.

Did you not read what I wrote.....refurbished iPhones can be from anywhere. LL is US unit. So happens yours came out of HK.
