i realze vip5 is really enough... unless u got many (series) addict in ur house.... then all the time new episode coming... full speed 24/7

but for normal user browsing/causl torrent/chat... even for 10 ppls vip5 enough

maybe if tm hv package...
VIPDYNAMIC: first few month speed is 20
since ppls excited download like crazy...

then after 2 months... ppls not that excited about speed anymore so dun care .... tm auto down speed to 10

finally after 3 more month..ppls realize 5 is very good for most use... 1080p stream ok wait very2 little... download fast good enough.... reduce speed to 5... ppls don complain at all and never itchy to upgrade to 20....  rclxms.gif
how? is good this package? if tm wan to adopt i sell my intellect property very good price laugh.gif
*
You shouldn't have posted now TM will curi your idea. :-)

But you're right, for me also I find VIP5 sufficient. When I first got it, I wished I had 10 or even 20, download so much faster. Now after two months, nothing to download already. Download so many shows also no time to watch. :-)

Even with VIP5 at night, peak time, usually 2 Macs browsing, kids watching youtube on iPads, AppleTV streaming some stuff. No probs. Everything smooth, maybe it also has something to do with the router's QoS and how effective it is.

If really slowdown, I just pinjam neighbors VIP5. whistling.gif

neway, yes you can run both or more IPTV at the same time. However 1 user ID is only valid per IPTV Box.
*
Do they enforce the 1 session per userid for the iptv? I can get hold of a spare STB. I think I will give it a try next week. I wonder what's the data rate cap for IPTV. Running 2 sessions might be problem for HD channels. LuxHD uses about 8.5mbps. The highest data rate is channel 100, I've seen it as high as 9.5mbps. I don't have any other HD channels. :-(

VLAN cap profile for 600 on is 10mbps by default. 2x SD channels at the same time should be fine, and yeah there is username to STB MAC chaining at the HTTP authentication level for the STB.
*
Thanks for the info. So it should work if I have two logins. I'll try it later. My uncle has an STB that he doesn't use.

Guys, isn't Unifi free for calling all TM Fixed line nationwide? Let say I am calling back to KK, Sabah, 088.

In MyUnifi, I got RM0.56 for voice. and I didn't even call mobile number before.
*
Are 088 all TM Fixed Line? Because for 03, it can also be Maxis or Time Telekom. For these, one will be charged. Not to mentioned that calls to 100 are charged too. I think?

Hmmm again my 20mbps has been capped at 5mbps, and I just came back from a 2 week holiday. Unifi is too much, this happened in january too.
*
I think the capping is done in 2 places, at the BTU and at their servers, when you log in. Maybe someone at TM accidentally changed the cap on the BTU. Have you called TM? How long did it take them to fix it the last time it happened?

i think its very depends on "luck"? just next door neighbour, same style of house2-1/2 storey, his signal weak at 1st & and floor. but my house, my signal on 2nd floor also still full speed, d/l up to 580kp/s. we bothe din do any tweak after the installation. maybe his installer did something wrong?
*
I think probably "Feng Shui" is causing it. Probably Master Yap Cheng Hai ask him to put an aquarium somewhere in the path of the radio signals. Aquariums = WiFi router worse nightmare.

But seriously, my neighbor's DIR-615 located in the downstair's back room of the his house performs pretty well. Signals reaches up to the front gate. Only place in my house where I can't get his signal is in my master bedroom toilet.

i'm trying to setup my IPTV using the following items:

1) RT-N16 running on 3.0.0.3.84 (and also 3.0.0.3.102) FW from Asus
2) 2 x Aztech 500mbps Homeplug

The setup:
RT-N16---->Homeplug A---->Homeplug B---->IPTV

Settings:
1) STB port is LAN4 (regardless of FW used since already set by default.)
2) "Enable multicast routing" is ON
3) Connection between both Homeplugs are working. All 3 LED lights are green. Internet is working when i use my laptop via ethernet connected to homeplug.

Conclusion:
IT'S STILL NOT WORKING!!! IPTV can't connect to server.

P/S: IPTV worked the first time when TM guys came to setup my Unifi. but now modem + router is in another room, away from the tv.

klseet did advice to downgrade to .84 firmware or even .74 (didn't try it yet). but it still doesn't work.

Any advice??

cheers. smile.gif
*
Did you get the STB working with the Asus router before? Just to confirm it's not the STB, can you bring just the STB and connect it direct to your router? If it's working, it should show a channel number. If not, I think it shows "INIT" or something else.

nope, it wasn't working back then. but that was because i wanted to use wlan to bridge them, not wired.

i've tried connecting it directly too. it's still not working. sad.gif
*
OK, at least we've taken the Homeplugs out of the loop. I think once you solve the problem with the Asus, you'd be good to go.

maybe tht 088 is not TM fix line??
coz it stated there is free call to TM fix line..

Maybe. Check with your friend. I haven't made calls to 088 before but if the number is provided by TM then it should be free. Did you call TM to clarify? Or maybe East Malaysia not included in the free plan?

Hi all,

Want to know is that any all-in-one unit to replace the unifi RG and BTU ?
*
I believe someone did it with the older BTU model 655 or something like that. Check Huawei's website. I'm sure the 850 can do it also but you'll have to get your own unit since we you don't have access to the webgui. The problem is getting all the correct settings for it to work with UniFi.

Yes correct. You pay upfront a month. Like you now today, you're actually paying for the prorated month of Feb + full month of March.
*
My first bill was 86. Second one normal 149. I applied online for the free 1st month subscription and was quite surprised that TM applied the free one month to the advance payment. I was expecting them to just give free 1st month prorated.

Snowfish, how's the crimping going?

sometimes when i watch the tv channels, the screen will lag and no sound intermittently..is it due to the router (DIR-615)?
*
Don't think so. Most people have no problem watching TV and using the net at the same time. Let TM know about it.

What the good aftermarket router for unifi with budget around RM100-RM200 MAX
*
I recommend TPLink WR841ND (RM80 or less) or Mikrotik RB750GL (RM250 or less, no wifi). Using both in office and in home. Mikrotik also has a wifi router at the same price (with wifi but only 100mbit ports and 32mb ram) but struggling to get it to perform to my satisfaction.

I think WR1043 should be a good choice too if you need GB Lan ports.

QUOTE(kembar4 @ Mar 5 2012, 01:18 AM)
Usually if the router hangs, no connection will go through right?

This is not the case. Because I am still connected to the main computer via RDP, everything is smooth RDP wise. Just that it doesn't load webpages as fast and torrent speeds were really low until the router was restarted. So this is a router's issue?
*
Could be router running low on memory or cpu usage too high. One symptom we sometimes see is the webgui is loading very slow. Happens to the DIR-615 quite often. Next time it happens, telnet in and check the mem/cpu usage. That should help you determine if it's a router prob. I think the DIR-615 has probs with memory leaks. My neighbor's unit needs rebooting at least once every month and they don't torrent, just typical usage for a family of 5.

Out of curiosity, I just telnet into the DIR-615 and for some reason, xmldb was running at 97% CPU giving a load average of almost 1,1,1, i.e.: not good. Rebooted and it was back to normal.
