An overly concerned issue. Your mechanical hdd will likely fail much faster than any marvell/intel ssd.

the ssd will fail within 2-3 years IF users are writing a data 10GB per day until 2 years non-stop. even on datacenter, still cannot write 10GB data on one drive

for example my ocz vertex 3 240GB says it MTBF can lasts until 230 years 

so nothing to worry about. my grand grand grand children still can use it 

guys, i will be using ssd on my sata2 board. wat do u all think? which ssd is the better choice? crucial m4 ? i afraid that i wont get full performance using ssd on my sata 2. pls advice.thanks thanks

1. Plug in ur SSD. boot into windows. Update the SSD Firmware. M4 000F FW
2. Reboot into BIOS. Set to ACHI. Shut down.
3. Unplug all the HDD, except M4.
4. Put in Windows 7 cd and install.
5. Once done, perform system optimization (DO NOT PLUG IN OTH HDD)

It is easy to update your SSD Firmware but the easiest one is Intel. Linus have a video on how to upgrade your Crucial M4 SSD. Bear in mind, please check your SSD alignment before doing anything else, or it will become a lot of hassle after you have installed/tweak everything. Fresh install is recommended.

If you have installed the OS and tweak and found out that your SSD is not in the correct alignment, you can use this software "Paragon Alignment Tool 3.0" without destroying your data but it is not free.

A fresh install of OS (Windows 7) will automatically align your SSD, that's is why it is always recommended. This problem usually occur for those who use cloning/backup recovery on the newly SSD. So no worries there.

No need screwdriver bro, just double tape should be enough unless you need the screwdriver to open the case.

That should be SATA3 speed as SATA2 is 2XX max.

Your benchmark does not match specs coz it's bottlenecked by your laptop mobo chipset.
