Finally, I have successfully installed custom ICS kernel (Alliance kernel by night-elf) for my Xperia Neo.

Now I have root, recovery, swap support, overclocking/underclocking and USB On-the-Go support with NTFS/FAT/EXT2 support.

With root I removed bloatware and can free up to 56MB from stock.

With swap support, I will have no problem playing heavy games that uses more RAM. I got serious kicked to desktop problem. I wish Neo have 'true' 512MB of RAM, not 330MB sad.gif

USB-OTG for my file management

Note: Custom kernel only for unlocked bootloader only

swap will reduce life of ur sd card. the other ram goes to android it self, cant be used for application.

USB OTG u mean file management on ur pendrive like that orr?

I am aware of that. It is enabled only for some apps.

I used to port swap into cache partition and i think it is more risky that way.

swap as in a method of reserving some space in the memory card to be act as ram...

thou not as fast as real ram but it does help in preventing lagging

Added on June 3, 2012, 4:51 pmmore like creating a temporary cache in the memory

Lol,what language edy we talk le. lol. hehehe

swap, what other say its true. android use the swap to place the CACHED apps to the swap partition, thats why,it will free up ram, because it moved there. if dun have swap, android stay the CACHED apps to the ram,if an application is need to run such amount of ram, lagging occur is caused by the cached apps is being killed by android rather than keep it. Thats what i understand on my way. hahahaha thumbup.gif

p/s : rather cached, got also background app. hahaa. need study that lot

swap memory is also known as virtual memory. when RAM or physical memory is low, operating system can address the memory into a page file ir swap file on the disk.

Pro: helps computer with low RAM = free RAM

Con: slower performance, depends on disk write speed

After using ics on my pro, i notice considerable lag while launching apps and also while using them. Need to reboot quite often. Camera also seems a little buggy plus pics not so sharp even when there is enough light. The worst is battery, have to charge 2 or 3 times a day while on GB only once ....i want GB back, hehe..

what could be the problem? every 2 weeks or so, my xpro will turn off and must remove the batt in order to reboot. now i have auto shut down + overheating problem where the back of the fon is burning like hell and must remove the batt to let both the fon and batt to cool down. not sure if it is ic problem or just the bad battery issue. i am worry one day it will explore and dig a hole in my assss.
