Nice score Owi as always thumbup.gif..however heaven 4.0 seems not optimized for Trifire as I scored 69.x with 2x7970s @ 1200/1600. Maybe needs new driver to improve trifire scaling. oh I see you're using beta5 while I'm using beta6, maybe that's the case.

Kevin, have you tried compare 7970 CFx and TFx scaling in games? Do you think it's worth it to upgrade to Trifire since I'm gaming at 2560x1440 with everything maxed out so I need more power from these 7970s smile.gif.

You might refer to THIS review for scaling.
From what I see the scaling performance of 2x 7970 vs 3x 7970 are depend on games.

BF3: Scales quite good.

MP3: Scales badly.

Overall: TFx is just 1% extra gain over CFx
user posted image

IMO, TFx is worth to upgrade for high resolution like your 2560x1440, time to time AMD will release a new driver to improve multi-GPU performance on some games. So, it is not wrong to get another card for your gaming rig. It is a bonus when the game you are playing supports TFx.

Thanks Kevin,

Relative performance not looks good from CFx to TFx scaling..maybe I just wait for another round of driver release or wait until these 2 cards no longer able to maintain playable framerate on new games only then looking for upgrade, Thanks bro

Hmm..your score above lift my eyebrows. Looks to me Trifire not in action there coz I scored 107.5FPS same settings driver beta6. 7970s at 1315/1850 clocks.

I think there's something we need to do to enable trifire scaling in Valley benchmark not sure though what it is as I saw other guys at OCN with triple 7970s scored 130+ FPS.

yes I'm also aware of the low score. I suspect the other two 7970s were not OCed to the same clocks as the first 7970 I should monitor them using AfterBurner, later bro later/.

Beta5 is known to have screen tearing issue in FC3 which is solved with Beta6 and Beta7.

erm nope..but i'm still with CCC 13.1
my Far Cry 3 release is v1.01 (aviara..enhem enhem) rolleyes.gif

regarding shepard reply about borderless setting, i set to fullscreen..then only my FPS goes to 60 FPS average
this setting put less strain on my gpu..with 60% fan speed temp 72-73c
later on if rajin i'll go with CCC13.2..tqvm notworthy.gif

erm the most basic setting to overcome tearing is VSYNC setting ON mode..
also not to forget my Far Cry 3 runs on SSD....

Found out the culprit. I have to create a profile in CCC and set CF mode to Optimize 1X1 so here's the updated results with 13.2 Beta7.

1250/1600 is the max for my trio on this Valley.
Something wrong when OCed to 1260/1600 or 1300/1750 the first card hit 80C during the test then the app hung & have me to do a hard restart.
1300/1750 was fine completing 3DM11 (less stressful), artifacts of course biggrin.gif

Just realized there's an OC thread for Radeon 7800/7900 series rclxms.gif Here's mine:

Sapphire Radeon 7870 XT 2GB
Core: 1135MHz
Memory: 1535MHz

This is the best clocks (apart from memory since going higher gave negligible improvements) I could get on stock voltage without artifacts after 1 hour run of Valley smile.gif Kinda lousy compared to all you big boys with 7970s in CF cry.gif
