Hi guys,

I got a house in Nilai which previously was rented out since I wasn't thinking of using the house myself. But all that now change. I'm thinking of moving to this house but apparently got so many things to do to make the house comfortable and ready to live in since it was use as a rental before. Since I'm new to renovation and stuff...I will definitely need some help with ideas and other things related to making a house livable smile.gif

A lot of things need to be done in a matter of short time. The whole house needs painting outside and inside, plaster ceiling need to be done, gate cannot close properly, door locks need to change, need to install Kitchen cabinet and wardrobe to name a few. I'm having a headache thinking all of these and getting kind of stressful since I need to prioritize what needs to be done first before moving in and what can be done later after I move in since I have some limited budget.

Here's is what I see as I enter the house. The previous person who rented my house said her furnitures caused some painting to peel of the wall so my wall looks really awful. I'm gonna have to paint that but pondering whether I should also built tv cabinet perhaps with high wall panel or not. Do you think I better do the tv cabinet now or can wait after I move in?

After the living room there's space for dining area which is before the kitchen. The thing that I don't like is that there's a window inside the house that opens into kitchen. The kitchen itself is quite small and I was told that if I decided to get a U-shape cabinet only open person could fit in (so small right?) sweat.gif I'm partial to making my KC complete with built in oven and everything but I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with this window ? If possible I don't want to hack any walls so do you think I should built dry kitchen near the window?

The kitchen here will be the wet kitchen area.*sigh* so darn small but cute at the same time. I would really love to have a big kitchen area and that could only be possible if I hack the walls at the back and extend right to the back yard. But currently I don't think it's possible financially rclxub.gif

Near the kitchen there's a small room...a maid room or a storage room if you like. I'm not sure what to do with it. I know I don't want to make it a guestroom coz I have three bedrooms upstairs including the master bedroom. So if I have guests staying over they can use the two rooms. So...what do you think I should do with this small room? Is it ok to turn it into a study room? or storage room? I don't have maid so no need for a maid room.

This is stairs leading to upstairs. Have any idea how to make this area nice? Perhaps I should hang some pictures maybe?

There's some space which I can make into a family resting area...maybe can have some bean bags or large pillows to put and a small tv cabinet. Any creative idea what to do?

This is the master bedroom. Quite roomy. There a space near behind the door and in front of bathroom so I'm thinking of doing a walk in wardrobe. What do you think? But there's a window here facing the bathroom so don't know if it's suitable to have a walk in wardrobe or not.

I want to show the bathroom areas but I forgot to take some pics. Maybe later. Moving to new house is so stressful right? laugh.gif Any help and feedbacks from lyn friends would be very much appreciated. Thanks for viewing this thread! notworthy.gif

Yeah...I like modern Interior design. So mostly will go towards that idea. I know with limited budget I have to prioritize important stuff first. I will focus on living room/dining/kitchen and master bedroom. Other rooms can do later.

If you are on a tight budget, try to get all the required wet works (hacking, new walls, tiling, etc), plaster ceiling, electrical wiring done before moving in. There are the dusty and noisy work. If budget permits, then move on to the built-in furniture. There are the least inconvenience after you have move in. The most will be 1 or 2 days work.

True. I will have the plaster ceiling and electrical done before moving in. I don't want to move in and have to deal with the mess, dust and everything. But I don't think I will do any hacking to extend the back kitchen. Since there will be only me and my partner living (no kids yet) so I guess don't have to worry about bigger space for now. Currently looking for reliable and good contractor for plaster ceiling which I've asked at the respective thread. If I do plaster ceiling then need to change ceiling fans and lights. The current ones in the house don't look sturdy plus the light is florescent tube type which I hate. Reminds me of the old days when I was just a kid living with my parents.

Basically if I want to move already can but it's just not comfortable. Since my limited budget I will focus on the space where most likely we will use such as living room/dining/kitchen/main bedroom. Anyway, my brother said got friend who can help but and at the same time I'm looking for other alternative and options.

If you don't extend your kitchen now, later it would be very difficult to extend it once you moved in, right?

True...but I have other options. I decided not to extend kitchen area to the back.
