Too bad we can't get Hulu or Netflix here in Malaysia without jailbreaking the ATV, otherwise I would have bought one to place in my new condo!

The fiancé of my wife's friend in Sydney has an ATV and they are subscribed to Netflix (he uses the ATV to watch programs like MSL, NFL, and NBA)...

I have a Samsung TV that can stream YouTube videos via the Internet. But if I want to get an Apple TV, how do I get it set up here in Malaysia?
I heard that Netflix and Hulu can only be viewed in the USA, and these two have the best online TV programs thus far. Is there any way to have these services made available in Malaysia then? |

Looks like our Singaporean cousins will be getting Netflix soon (how lucky), which makes it all the more justifiable for them to get an TV!
As for us here in MY, it's not exactly very useful for now, what more with the advent of Smart TVs with their built-in YouTube and all. But it will be good if iFlix (the Asian version of Netflix) can be streamed on the TV! This post has been edited by THTgadgets.com: Oct 8 2015, 05:13 PM |

QUOTE(chokia @ Oct 9 2015, 08:48 AM) I would rather prefer not to have it here in MY, due to the fact everything will get censored just like astro. Oh okay, now that's not exactly a good thing. But has anyone tried iFlix before, by the way?I know it's Malaysia-based and something like the Asian version of Netflix / Hulu, but how is it? |

QUOTE(eikozai @ Oct 9 2015, 01:18 PM) I tried it with the trial. Lack of channel variety is what stopped me from going for the TV and bought a Samsung Smart TV instead. At least I have the choice of a Channel News Asia page, access to Facebook, a children's TV channel, or best of all, viewing YouTube in Full HD (something we cannot enjoy in a computer or iPhone)! Not much choices of movies, and mostly are old movies. Quality wise i wouldn't say bad, but the HD isn't high quality enough. Overall for that price i'll considered it as 'worth it', but not worth subscribing for long term.. Might get bored after 1-2 months. Looks like there are some of you seriously looking at the TV for streaming television eh? Maybe I can consider that too, but only if the offerings for Malaysia are improved (when will Netflix make it's way here?)!
Because I'm presently using a Samsung Smart TV that is more-than-sufficient, notably with that telly's crystal-clear YouTube videos and even the availability of a channel for children! This post has been edited by THTgadgets.com: Oct 30 2015, 12:09 PM |
