guys.. how come nvidia driver doesn't support W7 for 6xx series notebook?? i can't find suitable OS at all..

it takes a while for the price to settle down. New thing are always expensive. May be a few months from now u see 650m being price the same as Gt555m now.

well.. that is expected.. what do u expect putting the same power envelope in a chip that is getting smaller and smaller? its not so as a heat problem, only heat distribution..

indeed. anyway, i personally like the design and the build quality feels great. too bad i don't have enough time to test the performance and speakers.

A smaller fabrication process would be more efficient and would produce less heat. There is a heat issue coming from the Ivy Bridge architecture design which is partially confirmed to be due to the thermal compound used.

a 25% reduction in surface area, 10 - 20 % improvements, same power envelope, about the same speed.
they're probably using the same old fan design n not making it suit the smaller surface area..

at least the desktop chips made improvements, from 95W to 77W

same applies to GC also, but it seems they are either accomodating for the cooling or the chips just run more efficiently and at a lower TDP

Hi guys, hows does a ATI 7730 when compared with GT 640M? Is the 640M much better?

The GT640M is still heaps more powerful than the GT635M which is just a rebadged GT555M. The GT640M LE is still less powerful than the GT640M.

GT640M is the successor of GT540M while GT635M is GT555M.
