Another look at specs of E1820 and E367:
Issue 1:
E1820 and E367 supports the following standards:
- High-speed packet access plus(HSPA+), but
Only E367 supports the following services:
- HSPA+ packet data service
It might be omission, or indicate that E1820 is not fully compliant with HSPA+ R7, to verify take a look at table 2.1:
Technical standards:
E1820: WCDMA/HSDPA R7, HSUPA R6
E367: WCDMA/HSDPA R5, HSUPA R6, HSPA+ R7
It confirms that E1820 is not HSPA+ R7 compliant. It supports 64QAM modulation which gives HSPA+ R7 raw speed 21mbps (no MIMO). There is much more features introduced in R7 which helps stability of the connection, perhaps it is intelligent way to hide it from the consumer. Although E367 supports MIMO and maximum speed 28mbps is achieved with MIMO, but lack of MIMO should not be problem for E1820 to be compliant with HSPA+ R7.
Once again from table 2.1 on the same issue:
Static receiver sensitivity:
E1820: WCDMA/HSPA+ 2100MHz: Compliant with 3GPP TS25.101(R6)
E367: WCDMA/HSPA+ 2100/1900/900/850MHz: Compliant with 3GPP TS 25.101(R7)
E1820 receivers are also not compliant with R7. On the side note it is nonsense: there is no HSPA+ in R6
Issue 2:
We know already how external antenna connection is implemented in E1820, lets take a look how this information is hidden from the user.
E367:
Equalizer and receive diversity(TYPE 3) and:
Dual internal antenna
This fair tale, because Type 3 is defined in 3GPP as "diversity equaliser", which means equaliser is processing signal simultaneously from two independent antennas (as opposed to the RAKE diversity receiver - Type 1).
E1820:
HSPA+ Equalizer and receive diversity
Supports a fixed built-in diversity antenna
I have problem undertanding term "diversity antenna". Sort of new-age speech and thanks to the forum everybody knows how it works in practice.
