I'd say if it's not broken, don't fix it.

My Desire Z can lock within 10 seconds. I saw some GPS fix (the same gps.conf fix) few weeks ago and thought of maybe turbocharging it to make it lock within 1 second. Ended up after the 'fix' it took me more than 5 minutes, sometimes not even getting a lock until I restart the GPS. I tried undoing the 'fix' but the GPS was never the same.

It wasn't until I make a full wipe and reinstalled my ROM that I regained my 10 second GPS lock.

Only try this if your stock settings do not give you a reasonable GPS lock time.

^Nope. Even after EFS wipe also lock within 10 second. I'm on CM7. Forgot the details of first lock, but I'll try to pay more attention next time whether AGPS was enabled.
