my younger brother is a deaf ppl.May I know can deaf work at accounting related job?do you have deaf ppl colleague?I mean at junior lower end level(eg:lcci, account clerk, account assistant..)(not at higher level supervisory level(ACCA,auditor) where communication is must);..is it true for lower end level(lcci, account clerk, account assistant..),accounting job,is "introvert"job?talking(my brother impairment) is less require(account assistant is do calculating, key in?)?
He grade not excellent but not bad,spm 6A5B;..he have interest in accouting job, with the thinking that,is accounting job(for lower end level,LCCI) talking is less essential(he can not talk or hear, but no problem in written communition(email, letter;he boss can writen order in small paper to order him job task)),then maybe he can try this area job..because he consider taking LCCI(he was science stream),i dont know is deaf ppl can work accounting related job..is it the nature of accounting job(for lower end level) is impossible for deaf ppl?

Whoa dude, for your sake, I suggest you improve your English. Obviously you don't speak English in real life, but make some effort to improve it, yeah? xD If your bro's like you, then he should start improving too.

I've done some Google searches for you about this, deaf people can be accountants, chartered accountants, blah blah blah, deaf people can do almost anything a normal person can, except hearing, of course.

Being an accountant might just be a nice job for your lil bro. smile.gif

It's not impossible you know... doh.gif

i suppose he still able to work as an accounts assistant/clerk provided the firm/company is willing to give essential support and that the stuffs are helpful etc.
As for LCCI, why don't you ask your brother to try work with spm qualification first?
I believe there are small firms that only requires you to have some basic accounting knowledge which spm's principle of accounting would suffice.
If he can work comfortably then perhaps only proceed academically?

Yes, deaf people can do accounting jobs. Just depends on what support they get from their bosses. As mentioned by others, he can start of with minor positions, take professional qualifications, and progress upwards. Do ask him to improve his English and qualifications if he wants to qualify as an accountant. The only thing holding him back is not his deafness but whether he is prepared to work hard to achieve his aim in life. Nothing is impossible.

I am really sorry to your brother. For your concern, it depends how fast his learning curve is. Because, if he has no experience in real practice, it could be trouble. Because he needs extra efforts and training for his special case.

Accountant is essential person, he or she also needs to speak with clients and colleagues to solve accounting issue. Even in lower level accounting post, they still requires basic communication skills. Perhaps, exceptional post like Accounting Entry, Billing, maybe suitable for him. But for such routine job, it is rare in the market, because many things are integrated in ERP systems. So accountants may do the operational jobs with ERP system.

If your brother is able to use ERP or IT systems, it could be advantageous for him. He needs a special mentor to guide him in his career. I truly bless for your brother!

Why not? I have a deaf friend. She obtained her ACCA professional qualification. Now she works in a MNC as Senior Accounts Receivable Team Leader. she used her company e-mail account / webcam to communicate with her manager and staffs.

There is also one Deaf guy works at HP Global Center Cyberjaya.
