No specific incident happened as far as i concerned. Online yesterday night, then keep the phone aside, sleep, morning wake up, phone already cannot on... but the phone do feel a bit warm when i touched it this morning... is it because of this problem? but i dont know why the phone felt warm.. == i think theres no other application running, and in using broadband simcard to surf the internet..
Any direct sunlight hitting your phone? I know this may sound stupid but maybe because the ray of sunlight constantly shining on your phone that may have over-heated it. I suggest you to take it to your dealer and check (If you have not rooted the phone).
What is the latest firmware niw for stock rom. I colleague unit seems not that updated.

Try to un-root, update then root back again? My device had no problem to update to 2.3.6 even when it was rooted. Don't know why yours got problem

I tried updating it via Kies but it failed then the next day I got a notification on my phone asking whether I wanna update my phone via Wireless or not. So I just clicked 'yes'.

Mine works perfectly. Well, your device must be unlocked and on the home screen (not black or on the lock screen) then only can capture screenshot. It can only screenshot either on home screen or while running an application.
