My cherry shrimps has been a year old, some die, some newborns. However, the adults are not as big as the ones I see in LFS. Although I know it could be nutrient deficiency, the difference between the adults are quite big. I only feed pellet to them.

What about food nutrients for your shrimps? and your water pH, Gh and etc ...

I never checked water parameters for the tank. But I doubt ph and gh affect body size. Only thought now is whether I should boil some vege tables for them. hmm.gif

sad.gif That's so sad. I fed them cucumber once long long ago and they liked it, even two ottos went for it. Maybe your spanish was organically inorganic.

if young mama will be like 20++ shrimplets they will give birth to,else 20 to 40++ per mature berried mama.
They like to hide under decor , wood , stone and moss in your tank , but if you didn't prepare beforehand like covering your filter inlet, some will be sucked inside, if you are using canister filter , some may have survive and grow inside your canister filter which happen to me 2 year back when my inlet cover came off , i found like 30++ fire red baby grow to 0.5cm inside the eheim canister 1 mth++ later when i do filter cleaning.
So check your canister filter if you are using one cos the picture you post the shrimplets looked like more than a week old.

How come I have less than 10 shrimplets each time? Few shrimps took turn to give birth already. sweat.gif

Total 13 shrimplets have been shifted into their new home. Expected to have more of them, checked water filter & sponge etc nothing inside, most probably eaten by Corydora.  doh.gif

I doubt Corys eats tinier fishes. They look harmless.

Well.. Only corydora and shrimps in the tank.

Maybe it is unlikely your daughter had lots of eggs? But I can't say you are wrong, because my shrimp tank shares corys too and I can only see very little shrimplets also.

I dono how many nth generation my cherry tank has. But today was the first time I saw few baby shrimps at its tiniest. This made me wonder, does the adult shrimps chew on the babies?

Yamato is pretty useless, to clean up debris and normal algae , use neocaridina palmata variants or malaya shrimps is more potent minus
the risk of them killing other dwarf shrimps and stole all the food intended for fish/shrimps.
*
How common is neocaridina palmata in the LFS? Is it an expensive type and difficult to rear?

Yesterday I was able to watch my Yamato pair. Male on top, female below. This happened in less than few minutes after I placed the female in my bigger tank. I didn't know it was a female until I went to check yesterday for the features distinguishing them. After I found out my main tank doesn't have any females at all, I caught the only female I have and placed it in the main tank. Immediately, the action happened. I think the horse saddle can be seen in 1 or 2 weeks time?

Wanna seek advise over here. I found information that Yamato's requires different water parameters for the shrimplets. However, there are also instances whereby the shrimplets are safe on freshwater. Has anyone bred them on freshwater alone before?

You need to be careful yamatos will eat smaller shrimps.
