Acid, if I want to clean the vents of the laptop, by opening the bottom panel (the entire panel) via the screws, will warranty be voided?

QUOTE(cofin @ Feb 20 2012, 09:25 PM) Damn ....RM500 for extra HDD slots and 2" screen size. AFAIK both models only have 2 RAM slots. Replacing HDD shouldn't be difficult as HP has made it relatively easy to open up the back and removing the HDD, RAM, optical drive. There are quite a number of forummers who have replaced SSD into their DV6 How about ram slots ? Is it hard to replace the HDD ? Hard decision |

QUOTE(Tomiya Takato @ Mar 4 2012, 07:58 AM) Haha, how much more "expensive" they can get compared to getting from somewhere else ? And yeah im planning to get the 3yr's walk in warranty aswell, with the default warranty in place and the added on warranty does it sums up to 4yr's ? Thanks No. The 3 years warranty is inclusive of the default warranty. So it is essentially an added 2 years warranty. |

How do I overclock the laptop's GC? MSI Afterburner itself will work?

Kingston works perfectly fine (my additional 4gb RAM is a kingston). If I recall correctly, the one that came with the laptop is from hynix.

As far as I know, I have not seen a single overheating issue regarding the dv6 on this forum. The cooling is not the best in class of course (due to the slimmer design compared to similar specced models), but is definitely adequate. The laptop idles at around 45-50C, and usually goes up to 80-90s during intense gaming. Still a safe temperature range.
Overheating is only a problem when the temperature exceeds the maximum operation temperature, which is 100C for the Core i7 |

QUOTE(nothingz @ Mar 18 2012, 11:18 PM) the manual switching graphic on 6114 by default is High Performance, can i set it to default Power Saving? means start up is Power Saving GPU If you switched to Fixed Switching in BIOS, definitely. Just open up Catalyst control centre and switch the GPU to power saving. |

QUOTE(acapahmad @ Mar 19 2012, 10:20 PM) so it's better to set it that way? and do it affect the battery lifetime and the temperature of the laptop? Idle temperatures wont differ by much. AMD card idles (100MHz) around 40-50C only, nothing to worry about. Battery life should be shorter, though not by much, maybe 30 mins to an hour less on idle. This post has been edited by keyzjh: Mar 19 2012, 10:23 PM |

You can check out this link. But equalizers are all about personal preferences, keep that in mind as everyone has a different taste in how they want their music to sound

QUOTE(storky20 @ Mar 21 2012, 09:35 AM) Alright, disabled Pagefile and everything seems to be going SLIGHTLY more smoothly. I still run out of RAM though (very evident when Chrome is open even with 1 tab). Are you having 4 or 8GB ram? Not advisable to disable pagefile with 4GB as it runs out of memory pretty easily. I've had zero issues disabling pagefile on 8gb ram with chrome, firefox, itunes and a game running simultaneously, even with multiple tabs in chrome.I've tried Opera ages ago. Didn't like the 'feel' of it haha. EDIT: Sticking with Firefox for now. Less lag. |

QUOTE(elco-ph @ Mar 23 2012, 12:36 PM) When my DV6 was new, I really disliked how it sounded. Very thin, no bass, little midrange, and harsh. Can you share your beats eq settings? I've been trying to use RTA to tweak, but just couldn't get it to go flatI used an RTA (real-time analyzer) app on my iPhone4. I pointed the bottom of the iPhone (where the mic is) towards the laptop while it was playing "pink noise." Pink noise sounds like static between old TV stations and is a collection of all sound frequencies at the same level. The RTA app showed a big boost in the high frequencies, which I toned down with the Beats EQ. When I got to something resembling "flat" on the RTA, everything started sounding good on my DV6. Vocals come out nicely. Cymbals no longer splash and crash. Hope this helps. |

I don't face a single issue with leshcat 12.6 UP2 and it's been rock stable for a week. And I have to re-dl the entire UP2 package for patching UP3.
I guess I'll pass for now |

QUOTE(botac_6 @ Jul 16 2012, 10:46 AM) 1. Download the package and extract it.2. Turn off UAC in windows. 3. Install DSE if you haven't already. 4. Run YUC. 5. Let it reboot twice. 6. Install the leshcat drivers! I stopped using driver sweeper after I used YUC since i encountered many problems after using both.
