^ Try use Minitool or Easeus Partition software. It can convert dynamic disk to basic without losing data. Win disk management can't do that. You probably need to delete some volume because basic disk only support 4 physical partition.

I am very interested to get the DV6-6C19TX model. Just out of curiosity, what is the brand of RAM that comes with the laptop? Is it Kingston?

I'm just asking as I'd like to get another 4gb stick, and would like to get the same brand if possible to avoid any hardware conflict between the RAM or is it ok to use different brands of RAM together?

Kingston works perfectly fine (my additional 4gb RAM is a kingston). If I recall correctly, the one that came with the laptop is from hynix.

If you switched to Fixed Switching in BIOS, definitely. Just open up Catalyst control centre and switch the GPU to power saving.

Does it revert back to High-Performance graphic after shutdown even with the adapter turned on?

just normal playing game (was playing ME3)
maybe this time i played for too long, around 2 hours+, then suddenly, it switched off itself, tried to restart, and it keep switching off, after several retries, it totally died      (so i think my window corrupted as well...i hope not  )

hopefully the HP service center in ipoh has the parts for a discontinued product...as i'm not in KL currently...

These 2 models has Full HD 1920x1080 screens. Very rare in the market.

finally get back my laptop today...very efficient, mobo changed, and luckily the graphic properties is still set in "high performance GPU" so i think it is still the same mobo series i had be4...haha

Yes, Envy Series is sexy but with drawbacks. If need to upgrade components will be easier with the DV series.

Anyone changed from HDD to SSD? I wonder what kind of enclosure (USB 3.0) exist out there. I am looking one for my HDD model TOSHIBA MK1059GSM. It's 2.5" 1TB 5400rpm 12.5mm. I looked for Archgon MH-2615 and MH-2612, as well as Hornettek 2.5" Panther HDD enclosure, just don't know whether it fits my HDD or not.

eventually i got recovery disc from hp , 3 recovery 64bit service p1 and application &driver dvd
but its totally useless for my hp dv6-6c10tx
when im on original os bundled hp home premium it cant be loaded even on desktop nor bootup f11 i tot its bcz i changed my laptop from basic disc to dynamic disc,so i manage to format it to window 7 ultimate 1st(custom) , its blank but its very very very fast ,boot up,shutdown,performance but i lost beats audio and coolsense
but now i reinsert the recovery disc , its wont auto play , by the method boot up -> esc -> boot dvd rom -> showed loading window files -> showed error : 0130-ab4-abg -> this desktop cannot be done by media recovery -> faint ==

desperate.........no wifi,no bluetooth now

any pros please point me to the right way

normally how long a hp dv6 laptop can last? recently my compaq v3000 die after 4 yrs and i saw quite many posts on hp laptop hardware issue after few yrs. this makes me a bit worried as i just bought the hp dv6. also, if compared to asus, which lappy can last longer -> hp or asus?

Hi is me again, long time no see guys.......... my problem is still not fix after 1 year using this HP pavillion. Personally, what happened on me is my laptop does not perform as well as my friend's Acer.. both using same i7..
should say : mine is worst than his even though his Acer is cheaper than mine.

I dont know whether this problem could be solve anot just try my luck here.. anyone experience this? Like minimize, closing tabs, alt tab those is not as smooth as normal laptops.. i did all the windows update (important)...

- never update my graphic card before.. but i dont think it is the cause of  my problems? playing dota 2 recently, graphic is nicer and proven okay.. just alt tab those is not smooth....

really?? then how shud i delete those update? i recently just updated all....    btw acid, i think there is some problem with the driver, no matter what game i play, it will have suden spike for 1 sec, no matter dota 1, 2 or even sc2, im sure its nt the lag that cause because i tried on single player also.. what u suggest to do to check?
