I have 3 options when i right click Disk 1 (750gb HDD)

1) Convert to Basic Disk
all data inside will be lost

2) Reactivate the Disk
tried but it shows error

3) Offline
it does not help

so my only option is to convert it to basic disk, option 1?

^ Try use Minitool or Easeus Partition software. It can convert dynamic disk to basic without losing data. Win disk management can't do that. You probably need to delete some volume because basic disk only support 4 physical partition.

Added on March 10, 2012, 2:10 pmYou may need to pop that hdd back in too. hmm.gif

I am very interested to get the DV6-6C19TX model. Just out of curiosity, what is the brand of RAM that comes with the laptop? Is it Kingston?

I'm just asking as I'd like to get another 4gb stick, and would like to get the same brand if possible to avoid any hardware conflict between the RAM or is it ok to use different brands of RAM together?
*
QUOTE(keyzjh @ Mar 14 2012, 11:22 PM)
Kingston works perfectly fine (my additional 4gb RAM is a kingston). If I recall correctly, the one that came with the laptop is from hynix.
*
my stock 4gb ram stick is from Elpida, my additional 4gb Kingston ram is also using Elpida Chipset. Elpida is filing for bankruptcy, i am unsure there's anymore Elpida ram in the current/future HP models

If you switched to Fixed Switching in BIOS, definitely. Just open up Catalyst control centre and switch the GPU to power saving.
*
yes, i have updated to fixed switching in BIOs, means now everytime start up, i have to switch it to power saving GPU?

Does it revert back to High-Performance graphic after shutdown even with the adapter turned on?
*
i usually on power adapter, default is High Performance GPU, if i switch to Power Saver GPU, after i unplug then all settings will be gone. the next time i boot the notebook, the default setting will be High Performance GPU again

when i was with 4gb ram, everytime start up, almost 2gb gone. now with 8gb, most of the time the ram usage is around 25% only (2gb)

firefox will also lag when it is hogging few hundred mb of RAM, usually happens when you open lots of tabs. with SSD, things will be better. lol

just normal playing game (was playing ME3)
maybe this time i played for too long, around 2 hours+, then suddenly, it switched off itself, tried to restart, and it keep switching off, after several retries, it totally died  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif (so i think my window corrupted as well...i hope not  cry.gif )

hopefully the HP service center in ipoh has the parts for a discontinued product...as i'm not in KL currently... cry.gif
*
they usually don't have ready stock to repair your laptop, they need to order from KL, your laptop may have to park there for 3 working days at least. my 6114tx also changed LCD panel twice already at ipoh service centre. although their QC is not the best but their service is still acceptable.

i don't play games with my 6114tx but sometimes it will also heat up when i play videos/youtube

*
as i have said before their quality may not be the best but they are quite efficient. you read the comments on Asus warranty claims, you will be glad to be a HP user

Yes, Envy Series is sexy but with drawbacks. If need to upgrade components will be easier with the DV series.
*
i don't own it therefore i have not opened it before, hahaha. the warranty extension should be quite expensive too compare with pavilion series

Anyone changed from HDD to SSD? I wonder what kind of enclosure (USB 3.0) exist out there. I am looking one for my HDD model TOSHIBA MK1059GSM. It's 2.5" 1TB 5400rpm 12.5mm. I looked for Archgon MH-2615 and MH-2612, as well as Hornettek 2.5" Panther HDD enclosure, just don't know whether it fits my HDD or not. icon_question.gif
*
my 750gb HDD is inside Archgon USB 3.0 external enclosure, forgot bout the model. either one of them will do

if only your warranty is over, otherwise why want to change to FHD panel? you will need to change back to HD screen everytime you send back to HP for repair

Pretty huge mang.
Fits up to 17"

And makes the DV6 feel so much lighter. Hahaha.
Ey Acid, say if I wanted to switch to SSD, I can still use the recovery discs or no?
*
still can use, then your 750gb hdd can be used as external hdd if you convert it from dynamic disk to basic disk. i have done that

Hi is me again, long time no see guys.......... my problem is still not fix after 1 year using this HP pavillion. Personally, what happened on me is my laptop does not perform as well as my friend's Acer.. both using same i7..
should say : mine is worst than his even though his Acer is cheaper than mine.

I dont know whether this problem could be solve anot just try my luck here.. anyone experience this? Like minimize, closing tabs, alt tab those is not as smooth as normal laptops.. i did all the windows update (important)...

- never update my graphic card before.. but i dont think it is the cause of  my problems? playing dota 2 recently, graphic is nicer and proven okay.. just alt tab those is not smooth....

i just don know how to describe but this problem bother me for long long time omggggg.. it sucks! just 1 opinion... overrated DV6!
*
normal HDD is really slow, maybe your friend's Acer notebook is having a better HDD than yours. Your HDD will also perform slower if you have many files in your HDD/partition, your HDD will then respond slower

the more windows update you install, the slower your pc will become because it has become heavier for your windows to boot. therefore i off windows update since day 1. one more thing that will slow your pc is the anti virus software, your pc will boot significant slower if you install those heavy anti virus/protection such as Kaspersky, Norton etc

i don't play games with my notebook therefore i don't update the graphic driver

SSD is so cheap now, change your HDD to SSD, you will see significant improvement on the performance. your current HDD can be used as external HDD in a USB 3.0 Enclosure

*
