i guess it comes with built in turbo timer liao since when i switch the engine off, the fan is still running on a few occasion.
*
my saga blm also has the same thing, fan running to cool the radiator. it's not the same as a turbo timer because a turbo timer keeps the engine running to use the engine lubricant to cool the turbo

yeah thx for the info! surprising proton do not have a built-in turbo timer?

Those from Toyota and Mitsubishi and Isuzu don't have it either on their turbo diesel. So I guess no manufacturer fit it as standard here.
*
almost no manufacturer fits their turbo engines with turbo timer, in my experience so far, all standard turbo cars must install the timer by owners themselves. if manufacturers also fit in timers as standard, those performance parts manufacturers will loose a lot of money, turbo timers are a main stream of revenue

Unfortunately if you fit a turbo timer yourself, the manufacturer will void your warranty. Catch 22 situation.

Some people say you don't need turbo timer but some say you do. So best check your Bold car manual to see what it says about engine shut down. Do you need to wait a while means you need it. If it say you can switch off straight away means you don't need it.
*
i'm sure the car manual won't state whether to use turbo timer or not. and yes the warranty is an issue if u install it yourself, the warranty will be void, so i'd suggest you don't install first, after the warranty expired then install. is the warranty 3 years? if yes, then within this 3 years if the turbo kong, u still can change it from SC, so no worries.

cars like 308thp dont need turbo timer. but after you switch off car, the radiator fan will still runs until its totally cool down.
*
as from my previous post, a lot of cars nowadays has this function. it only cools the engine, NOT the turbo. The turbo uses lubricants (engine oil) to cool itself, this is where the turbo timer comes in, to keep the engine running until the turbo cool enough.

most ppl who lives in conti countries changes cars after the warranty expires, it's much easier and cheaper for them to do that, so they don't give a rat's arse about maintaining the turbo. but if u r planning to keep the car longer than the warranty, it's another story. just ask yourself, after the warranty period, if the turbo has problems and u want to change it, how much is it going to cost? The turbo timer is only RM200, the turbo will cost you up to 5k

turbo timer on 308?

for your reading pleasure

it's actually here: http://forum.autoworld.com.my/index.php?showtopic=89539

so it's got a function just like a turbo timer but much more sophisticated. nice....

"It has a water pump for the intercooler that detects the temperature of the engine when you shut it. If its hot, the water pump will continue to let the water flow and cool the engine/intercooler. Also, if its too hot, the fan will continue running."

the question is, if the water pump or the heat sensor fails, then what? high tech has it's pros and cons, the more sophisticated stuff, the more something could go wrong, this is my experience working in a high tech industry, you could never have too many backups. and this is why old school techniques still rocks!

Proton already test the car. No need worry so much, if they had problem testing they already fit in turbo timer before released to public
*
doh.gif anyone knows how "intensive" they test their cars? it's Proton, and i don't mean to bash them, but seriously, it's PROTON!

the fan still running because of the watercool turbo. my guess is tryin to cooldown the turbo?

QUOTE(neo1point3 @ Feb 7 2012, 05:49 PM)
I think this is normal behaviour of any campro engine...To cool down the engine or turbo maybe?
How long the radiator fan keep running?
*
FYI saga blm also has the same function, it will depend on how hot your radiator is, the hotter the longer it will run. i tried full throttle all the way for 12km, when i reach home and stopped the engine, went inside, take a piss, and come out, the fan is still running.
