might be a bit too early to ask......but anyone knows how much is the cost of replacing the CVT GB if it is not working anymore and outside of the warranty period?

Hi...some users in other forum recommend the use of Oil Catch Tank as they found out a lot of oil escape into the Turbo module. If this oil get harden in the long run, this will harm the turbo module.
If this true? Is it necessary? if we install it, will it void the warranty? |

hi,
I new owner of the CFE EB. only clock 700kms so far. Compared with Alza, i feel that the engine and CVT noises are much significantly higher than Alza, but Alza road noises penetrated into the cabin more. During pickup or slow-down (decelerating), the engine and CVT noises are disturbing. Curious if anyone know any DIY methods to kill off these noises? |
Overall I am very satisfied with my Exora. No regrets..... Luckily my wife dont like alza, if not that time might get that... I heard alot of issue....
well, my wife owns an alza, while i just got the latest EB. I would say both have their strengths and weaknesses. I picked EB mainly on the cabin space offered. The noise insulation has improved a lot from a proton car standpoint, but still a lot of rooms to improved. EB engine+GB+aircond noise is much more higher than Alza, while alza high tire noise level. Comfort wise, i like Alza on the seat offered. EB is more a true 7-seater than Alza. With a car seat in Alza, i see it as a 4-seater family sedan, as i need the 3rd 2 seats for stroller+"utility bags, and 2nd row with the car seat occupying 1.25 seat, it fits another person comfortably but not 2. FC wise, needless to say more. My EB so far only clocks 1.3kms, ~14L/100km for 80% city drive. my wife alza on 16kms, and average 8.5L/100km. Just my own feeling.... |

i have to use a hilly road every time i go home, to bypass the traffics...that might be the reason of the high FC. At the same time, feel the turboboost is another siok and addicting feeling....

QUOTE(neo1point3 @ Apr 21 2012, 08:37 PM) 1) feel awkward because suddenly drive low-height car ya...EB noise a lot higher. trying to work on something to reduce and insulate the noise from engine bay. Anyone has any good pointer for me to kick start? my main focus is the noises from engine bay.2) the Preve NVH is so awesome! Can compare with my cousin 5 series 3) the handling is superb! (compare to waja) EB sure loss 4) brake, Preve better but EB also not bad 5) interior wise, i personally feels that EB better 6) engine respone...both same |

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Apr 22 2012, 04:08 PM) engine bay...soundproof it was told Campro engine cannot tahan high temp. If i soundproof the hood, it might increase the heat trapped inside. do you think so?both the engine hood there and the firewall firewall more effective but very hard to do...not sure abt EB though but it is hard to do |

ya...i guess so, but the most effective firewall insulation is by takingoff the dashboard. i a m a bit worry on that. if not put back properly, it might create more noise inside from the dashboard.

QUOTE(ir5 @ Apr 23 2012, 11:14 AM) thanks man! it is indeed helpful! for that price tag, i am very happy for now. Nobody knows the reliability and durability of this new car engine. you just have to balance out what you get and what you have paid. The next nearest competitor is Innova which has 30k extra to pay. Innova is obviously better NVH than EB in terms of NV. Handling part, i would say both are equal.so pgkia, how's your EB as of now? satisfied? is it worth/value of money buying EB? hope to get your personal opinion as i'm ready to 'angkat' one ;p Space?..Innova slightly better, when needed, u can fit in extra person legally. Power? you can get it from the spec. From the test drive, pickup from EB turbo is addicting. We dun have lots of long stretches of highway on Penang island, so i can't comment in details. For short range pickups, i would say it is better than Innova. For me, i am trying to handle the NV parts. Noise part i am trying to do soundproofing, which might spend RM2-3k. Vibration part, maybe a basic chassis foam ranging from 500-1k. If i add up all these, it is still <5k. if i choose to go premium solution, that might shoot up to 10k (or more?). So, it is still a sub 90k monster. you guys are lucky 'cos KL has a lot of good soundproofing solution providers. We hard to get here. less providers, means less price competitiveness. press a little bit more...you will have totally different feeling. i was like that when i first pickup my car and for the subsequent 1k of run-in period. After that i tried press hard a bit, the car reacts rapidly. Of course dun compare Alza 1.1T vs this 1.5T monster. The weight will affect the pickup during the initial 1second or so. it is not far from 1k rpm (idle) to 2k rpm. after that, it sprints....

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Apr 23 2012, 02:17 PM) i dunno yet. my guess would be mostly from the engine bay. I can't get anyone in Penang does this job so for now, my focus is mainly on the hood and firewall.Any reasons why you oppose chassis foaming? wanna collect more details... Added on April 23, 2012, 2:58 pm QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Apr 23 2012, 02:31 PM) Handling not much different if you drive at Ah Pek speed and taking corner. But once you drive fast, I would say there are lots of different in handling. The Exora is much better. No doubt. Innova is higher than Exora. If travel fast, sure lower body Exora is better than Innova. If everyone drive at ah pek speed(40km/h), even Kancil is good enuf.... When comes to flooding season, Innova drivers will laugh at us driving at ah pek speed... Added on April 23, 2012, 3:00 pm QUOTE(MR_alien @ Apr 23 2012, 02:54 PM) agree on this...proton's handling is always above good with that lotus handling The roundabout i use frequently here has traffic lights. hard for me to test the speed at 80km/h. might try during mid-night then... no need corner...try roundabout already can know try go though a roundabout at 70-80KM/H...am very sure the exora can take it while innova need to brake and slow down This post has been edited by pgkia: Apr 23 2012, 03:03 PM |

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Apr 23 2012, 03:02 PM) just do sounproof is enough already ya...i was thinking roof also, but we dun have heavy rain everyday here. so, i am targeting the parts where i have to face everyday. Doors will be my next focus. Anyhow, the place i stay, we are facing aeroplanes flying above us everyday, and we can feel the external vibration from inside..hahahaha:Dvibration if outside thn not much issue la....theres always vibration outside..as long it didn't affect the inside..thn it should be ok if inside certain vibration...i recommend using those black hard sponge rather than those chassis foam cuz its not like everywhere is vibrating...mostly 1-2 place only chassis foaming not sure how to say not recommended...its not no good, its just not recommended I was in my friend's Avanza when it was heavily rain. Surprisingly, i feel that Exora is slightly better in terms of roof insulation. For vibration, how to detect which parts are vibrating? From your experience, which parts are mostly the culprits? QUOTE(ir5 @ Apr 24 2012, 05:56 PM) huhhuhu...similar to what the sales agent offer...looks like can't demand much with EB ya? is it going to be another facelift or this is the only version offered in future? any idea? Anyhow this is the offer from PG SAs. The best i could get is RM1k discount + full tank petrol. If u in KL, was told in other forums that u can get 1.5k-2k discount with no free gift.i remember read from some articles mentioning that Exora next new full release will be ~5 yrs later. Not sure on facelift though. |
