The people comprising his inner circle ( Goering, Himmler, Bormann, etc) then exploited his condition by feeding him false information in order to advance their own personal agendas. Rommel was not directly involved in the plot, but his name was mentioned in documents captured from the plotters by the SD (Nazi secret police).

Rommel was a fine general, much better than Monty IMO.
