yeah someone added on one of the threads, no diff one for apple Li-ion battery, am i right in usin that term?
Li-on? or Li-ion? hahahaha cause i'm not familiar with these hardware terms,
but anyway, can charge whenever, don't need to wait til 20% or 50% for better life as some people are saying.
can charge any time you want, but once in a while do a full drain, all the way til ur phone dies, then charge back up to 100%
and also do something called trickle charge once in a while, meaning once its reached 100% u leave it charging for another few hours
apparently these steps can maximise the life of your battery.

someone who is more knowledgeable in this field pls correct me if im wrong, or agree if im right thanks hahaha  thumbup.gif

Everything is correct except the trickle charge part. You can do trickle charge every time if you want to get more juice charged for usage (100% instead of 80% for 2-hour) and it will not maximise the lifespan of your battery but the timespan between charges.

And also the full drain part is only necessary if you plug into power almost all the time at home because the juice is stagnant inside, not good if over a month. If you re normal user, no need to do full drain because you are already full draining it every 1-2days by using on battery.

On USB charging, you can plug unplug to charge anytime to any amount, no need 100%. USB charging is the same as charger but lower/slower voltage to charge only. So no harm using it.

Not many realize this but one of the thing that really can damage the battery is not the charger or the charging method but the casing we use. Try avoid those bulky thick and hard to remove casing for your iPhone. And also those flip leather case will really kills the battery with the heat generated when plug in for charging. If possible, remove them before charging because heat is the no.1 killer of battery, not charging methods.

For me, I just use a simple pouch and a naked iPhone, not just to protect the battery but the phone design is too nice to be covered by all those ugly cases. I know if drop sure pecah and cry, but I dare to risk it because it just hold and feel so much better without a casing. (please don't listen to me if you know you drop your phone twice a week ;p )

Oh ya one more thing, don't use china made charger, get ori or those branded one like Belkin if you need an extra charger for home and office or or car. For car charger, another precaution is not to plug in before you start the car. Plug it in only after your car is moving.

Hope this helps.

It does help thanks, but using USB to charge will it be count as one charge cycle ?

Exactly the same just slower to charge only because the lower voltage. So no different with charger.

i also read somewhere that you shouldn't worry so much about charge cycles cause with apples battery, it is smart enough to detect itself haha smartphone ma

so lets say you charge 100% then use until 50% then charge back to 100% that's counted as half cycle
then next day you use from 100% to 80% then charge back to 100% thats 1/5 cycle
and third day you use again from 100% to 70% this time, and charge back to 100% so thats 30% of 1 cycle

so all in all this 3 days will equal up to 1 cycle charge
50% + 20% + 30%

again i haven't confirmed this on apple website or what, but the person who mentioned this linked a battery site about Li-ion batteries, gouken is this information right?

btw gouken wanna ask, im using a bumper only, but the bumper itself is quite tight and a bit hard to take off and put on one, will this affect the battery heat?
*
Yes because the heat is trap, similarly when you play a CPU intensive game like Infinity Blade or Real Racing, not jst during charging. The thing with heat is it will not kill the battery instantly but slowly but surely.

Free as long as its within your monthly quota. It's just like data usage.

oh but my question is that i'm not using a casing wor, just a bumper, around the side of the iphone4s only, will it still affect the battery and keep the heat in? the front and the back not covered haha shouldnt that be able to offset the heat trapping problem?
*
Sorry weirdly in my mind I tot you said Rebel Capsule, bumper should be fine because heat easily escape and not trap. Charge in cool and ventilated place also helps a lot

Anyone here upgraded to ip4S from ip4??

To these people, do u regret upgrading? If given a choice, would u revert back to ip4?

I read @mmmbop's comment :

Excuse me then as I AM an iP4S owner. And prior to that owned 3GS and iP4. Like I said, improvement on the speed is there but barely visible in comparison to 4. I meant if 2-3 secs faster in opening a web, is that really matter? Siri likewise is still not much of use. It doesn't help to know that it has little knowledge on Malaysian business or shops around. And pardon my Manglish as I don't have the right accent for it as well. Dual core looks nice for gaming but the heat accumulation is way faster than 4. Even for casual web browsing or any that involves data will gives you that heat "treatment". As for the camera? Those that have use iP4, do you think it sucks? Never compare it to N8 obviously, but again not much of improvement either than 4. The XXtra MP simply enlarge the picture. But most notably, the battery on iP4s really drain wayy faster than 4 unless Apple can come up with a ipsw fix

Thanks....

Anymore opinions appreciated......coz rite now I have ip4 32Gb as well as ip4S 32Gb....I definitely need to sell one but now am confused whether to sell the 4 or the 4S ....

Very much agree with bro mmmbop comments.....speed wise, i don't even feel it is improved in 4s....and the heat is too much till i worries me....then the battery is zzzzzzzz wouldn't last a day of usage.....lastly....can't JB......these are the main Cons for 4S...which makes me shift towards selling the 4S and keeping the 4.....

I seek more opinions b4 i firm up my decision... wink.gif

For me, i can't imagine myself going back to iPhone 4 after 4S.

Few reasons (certainly does not apply to everyone):
1. I'm a Flickr addict. I need the way improved camera optic, 1080p video recording and faster startup time (4 is laughable). The f/2.4 is huge - better sharpness, creamier bokeh for portraits and better in lower light situations. And the great IR filter, when you compare outdoor shots esp, blue sky shadow results of an iPhone 4 to the 4S, you see a world of difference in the color filling the shadow.

2. Battery is good for me, lasting 1-1.5 days of my day-to-day use, my 15 months old iPhone 4 is just a bit better, furthermore it's now with much less charge cycles left because of my heavy use.

3. Not noticeable for most ppl but crazy person like me can tell and are annoyed by the ever-so-slightly slower Safari, apps and overall UI resposiveness (ie. app launch time, switching safari pages etc.). Most noticeable if you have use 4S for a month and try going back to 4.

4. Although I'm not a gamer, but I love being able to play those latest CPU-intensive games that pushes the A5 to max with hires settings.

5. Many said SIRI is useless and gimmicky but I do use it everyday when I drive, to read/send SMS/Email and make appointments with the excellent Omnifocus integration. Probably a literal lifesaver for those who text and drive dangerously. Since its still in beta, I'm pretty sure there'll be awesome updates soon for SIRI when Apple open up developer API smile.gif

6. I need 64GB.

one thing i really noticed when i had it in my hand... it is 'small'!  cry.gif  apple better go for larger phone in the future, it needs to be at least 4.3 inch nowadays

Pretty sure they've tested all sizes of prototypes and settled on the optimal 3.5". This is fanatic Apple we are talking about here not some experiment-all-sizes-on-customers Korean company wink.gif

Two main reasons: Usability and Battery life

Battery life of my practical day to day usage, without plugging in after full charge wink.gif

Settings are below:
- WIFI ON
- 3G ON when I'm out (1-2hours)
- Location ON
- Notification ON
- Brightness 40% (I use 50% for Iphone 4 because it's dimmer)

I use the handy home screen Cellular shortcut from http://brdrck.me/settings/ to quickly toggle the 3G when I'm out.

Hey guys ,

I've been wondering why the 4S battery lasts shorter compared to the S2 / other dual core android phones..

As far as i know, android OS is the power-hogging one, which consumes alot of memory/cpu power.

For example, the S2 vs the 4S , S2 has a 1650mAh batt while the 4S has a 1432 mAh battery.

is there really that much difference in 218mAh ? I've seen my friend's S2 which lasts 1 and a half day or even 2 days with regular use ( 3g / wifi on ) , light browsing and gaming.

while the 4S can't even live throughout 1 day with about 2 hours of light use / browsing.

I believe that the S2 has a 1.2ghz dual core Cortex A9 while the 4s has a downclocked 800mHz Cortex A9.

So it must be in the software right? probably some power-hungry add-on in iOS5? Or is the GPU in the 4S too powerful  shocking.gif

Majority iPhone 4S users (those without problematic 3rd party apps and with fresh install), it can run for 5-6hours on 3G with 1 day standby. You can get 8-10 hours if on WIFI and 1-2 hours 3G. Matches exactly Apple specifications.

use a download accelerator that can resume and download the latest ipsw file from iClarified
once downloaded, open iTunes. Click Update (Whilst holding shift or the option key for MAC) - Find the downloaded file, and install it.
