I've been wondering why the 4S battery lasts shorter compared to the S2 / other dual core android phones..

As far as i know, android OS is the power-hogging one, which consumes alot of memory/cpu power.

For example, the S2 vs the 4S , S2 has a 1650mAh batt while the 4S has a 1432 mAh battery.

is there really that much difference in 218mAh ? I've seen my friend's S2 which lasts 1 and a half day or even 2 days with regular use ( 3g / wifi on ) , light browsing and gaming.

while the 4S can't even live throughout 1 day with about 2 hours of light use / browsing.

I believe that the S2 has a 1.2ghz dual core Cortex A9 while the 4s has a downclocked 800mHz Cortex A9.

So it must be in the software right? probably some power-hungry add-on in iOS5? Or is the GPU in the 4S too powerful

I suppose apple has a reputation for not testing their devices thoroughly before selling, but rectifying it later on

We'll have to wait and see if it can be fixed, or will iPhone 5 be it's successor.

IPhone has better graphic quality than s2

Majority iPhone 4S users (those without problematic 3rd party apps and with fresh install), it can run for 5-6hours on 3G with 1 day standby. You can get 8-10 hours if on WIFI and 1-2 hours 3G. Matches exactly Apple specifications.

Oh u better try using before speaking up! I have bought a s2 n cant stand it and sold it after one month use! S2 battery life is worst than iphone 4 . I think 3gs is also better than s2!

I really don't get it. First of all, I had 3 of them, S2, Note and 4S. S2 was sold and replaced with 4S.

Honestly, I don't get why you say S2 is more lasting because it is well known S2 (at least with the non G) is a heavy battery sucker. I charged mine at least twice a day from 30%. I think 4S suck as much but if you let them standby with minimal usage, 4S is definitely more lasting. Unless you are comparing it with Note which can easily last a day with average usage.
