TS depend on which part of eczema and its severity for your friend.

I am the victim too, it is about your lifestyle

Bath: try non-foam body shampoo specialize for eczema such as Cetaphil, it is more exp, but it worth the money definitely.

Eat: avoid tree nuts, tiny prawn, and peanuts

Sleep: Don sleep late, it will further worsen for full body eczema case.

Having difficulty of sleep? take melatonin supplements. DO NOT rely on antihistamine and oral cortisteroid(those are for emergency acute eczema response)

Just to share with you guys
steroid addiction
now I stop using steroid for one week already
Now my face is dry and peeling
Other parts of my body like arm, neck, upper chest, groin area also have red patches.
I'm oso having some herbal medicine.
When my skin is dry I have to use moisturizer like qv cream and vaseline.
The website says tht the withdrawal period can last for 6 to 24 months. I dono how to work like this.
*
Stop using QV, try cetaphil body shampoo, it works better for me, dry and peeling skin type.

I now never eat antihistamine and steroid, stop your herbal medicine, and one more thing, FRANCH oil also worsen the eczema.

Vaseline is very useful BUT, clean your skin every 6-8 hours and apply again.

What time you sleep normally? 1-2 am is absolutely NO, 11pm ++ must sleep d...

Environment: keep cleaning free from dust.

Now I found tht if I apply vaseline, my skin will become smelly n like soft (like after dip inside bathtub for long time) after a while. It will become dirty if I Don clean it for some time so I better stop using it. Qv cream works best for me but the downside is it is expensive and will disappear quite fast so have to keep apply it. Now gonna try aques cream.

Well different skin for ppl, you having oily skin? mine is super dry skin... so Vaseline is saviour to me... it is so effective till I dropped topical steroid, antihistamine and other skin moisturizing lotion...

QV yea is quite exp, and surprisingly, it kinda make my skin a bit worse...

I can suggest you to apply this product, Green Tea Oil from Unicity.. Made and Patented in Japan by Unicity International, USA.

First in the world Green Tea Oil for skin and hair treatment.

100% Natural. Some information about the product:

Usually product feat. in Magazine does not suit most of the eczema patient here. Not even the common body shampoo for eczema.

Most of us found the way out thru trial and errors, and of course info about the root of cause of eczema.

Eczema is kinda unique to every ppl...

How does it work for you?
Nope, but my roommate have eczema too, so sometimes I do some research to help her by giving suggestions  blush.gif

Before: Dove
After: Stick with Cetaphil

Cetaphil does to my skin compare to DOVE:

1. It wont make your skin dry, Dove claimed the same, but still too harsh for eczema user(severe type, mild type still ok but will feel no comfort)

2. Basically you look into the ingredients between these two, Ceta focus on simple cleansing(not using too much of chemical), Dove got a lot extra stuff.

Just intro your roommate, as same eczema users can share their conditions and solutions.

im a sufferer myself been like since primary till working age (>15 years). typically you can only suppress eczema, it will come back on and off when you got something to trigger it (seafood intake, allergens etc).

So far I tried for bathing : Oilatium plus (soak or soap type), polytar (soap), moogoo soap (some australian brand for eczema) and cetaphil.

oilment : those moisturizer cream when skin is dry, if skin is weeping and damage(reddish) due to scratch (fucicort @steroid based) and elomet @steroid based for reddish and inflamed skin. Not advisable to keep using steroid cream as they will cause some pigmentation (applied area will have diff colour, mine was whiter), fast healing but as ppl say, steroids is not good in long run.)

Also tried the fast method, checking to hospital under dermatologist monitoring, daily intake of oral steroids, soaking with oilatium plus, steroid cream(3x perday) and bandage the affected area preventing the cream from being rubbed off, around 1-1.5 weeks will clear all the eczema spots. Downside, only last for sometime before eczema flares up again.

surprisingly mine was triggered in humid condition and if sweat alot + dust. During my stay in aus, hardly get any eczema flaring up, once reach malaysia, within a month or 2 already started back.

nowadays i just live with it, when it goes real bad then only will use steroid cream to control it.  Also eating olivenol plus tablets. So far only affect mostly leg now.

you can try doing patch test(they put some stuff/chemical(those you're in contact daily) on the skin and stick it for one week on your back) to see which things you're allergic to and blood test for those food stuff and other things.

Kudos, am eczema vitcim, what I did:

Bath: Cetaphil
Face dryness and inflammation prevention: Vaseline(mine dry face type)
Eat: Melatonin for sleep(cause me always facing monitor)

Actually most important for skin inflammation prevention is sleep early ==> before 12pm...

dermatitis type, you need to use milder shampoo(body and hair), moisturizer, and avoid allergen source(such as allergic food, and dust)... man you way better than atopic eczema which is no cure.

Testimony for eczema sufferers. Before and after pictures available upon request. tks.
Clinical Trial: Alkaline Water and Eczema

The following study was conducted by Prof. Tamura Tatsuji, Keifuku Rehabilitation Center:

“Let me introduce a patient who recovered from skin disease after consuming the antioxidant water. This patient suffered 10 years of eczema and could not be cured effectively even under specialist treatment.

This patient, who is 70 years of age, is the president of a vehicle spare parts company. After the war, his lower limbs suffered acute eczema, which later became chronic. He was repeatedly treated in a specialist skin hospital.

The left limb responded well to treatment, but not so on the right limb. He suffered severe itchiness, which, when scratched led to bleeding.

During the last 10 years, he was seen and treated by many doctors. When I first examined him, his lower limb around the joints was covered with vesicles. Weeping occurred owing to serum exuding from the vesicles.

I advised him to try consuming antioxidant water. He bought a unit and consumed the antioxidant water religiously and used the acidic water to bathe the affected areas.

After 2 weeks of treatment the vesicles dried up. The eczema completely cleared without any relapse after 1½ month."

how worst bro? mine last time at eyebrow also got scalp, around my nose and at back of my ear and also my forehead totally reddish..quite pain and a bit malu to go out to public area... i use this medicine, totally good.just go to pharmacy and ask for silenium sulfide lotion..take the one with most s.sulfide..a bottle cost rm15-rm20.
*
Mine? scalp all over my body, reddish, and painful on back of ear, forehead if scratched, both area keep filled with lymph fluid, keep wiping with cloth also non stop flowing. Bathing is very painful for whole face and neck, painful than being stabbed by knife.

Verified by Clinic doc as emergency inflammation case(acute atopic eczema), then first two days not going to bath(pain till want to suicide if touch water), suppress the inflammation fast with heavier dosage of steroid, means no longer painful within two days when bath.

Administration of steriod pills for one week, all symptoms gone, and when it came back on mild form, discovered that physical stress factor caused by late night sleep, when sleep early, skin feel very good and not reddish anymore. If you cant sleep well, try melatonin.

During the reddish stage, avoid:

Nuts(Especially peanuts)

Alcohol

Prawn and Crabs(Shellfish can take a bit)

Basically I eat anything except above.

Even on normal, try not to take peanut and ONLY take small portion of seafood. Alcohol if can try to avoid as the reddish will recover much more slowly.

I stopped corticosteroids because of the side effects. i take antihistamines sometimes at night if it's extremely itchy. And yeah, I try not to take them frequently. Never tried aspirin before. Does it reduce the itch also or just the inflammation on the skin?
And, another really important thing is that we NEED to make sure that our nails are SHORT!! It is extremely important as it will reduce greatly the effect of scratching (if you do scratch because of the itch).
*
Not really the effect of scratching, but the irritant/bacteria/anything else in your nails make your skin itchy.

Corticosteroid is just for emergency acute response.

I wanted to try aspirin. However my sister (she's a final year medical student) said that, aspirin might give immediate relieve but is not good in the long run for people with eczema. So now, i'm on the fence.....  rclxub.gif

Yes in long run aspirin no good, most important is lifestyle adjustment.

May I know which type of eczema your sister suffer? If it is atopic eczema, I can suggest some of the simple tips which take me years to realize, to save your sister out of the trouble with shortcut.

My sister doesn't have eczema. I do actually. I have papular eczema, which is a type of atopic dermatitis. She was just advising me. I've been having it for more than 2 years now. Currently i'm not on any medicines. Except if it's too itchy, i take anti-histamines. I'm on a vegetarian diet. I rub olive oil all over to soothe my skin a little. Going to try coconut oil soon.

Any new suggestion?

Ok please fill me in with details:

1. How long you clean your room once?

2. Type of fabrics for most of your clothes

3. Brand of your shower cream and shampoo

4. Temperature/humidity of your living environment(if got working, please list your working place too)

5. What time you sleep and what time you need to get up for work(if any)

For atopic type:

1. Antihistamine not effective for your case, it making you drowsy and it wont aid you for better sleep quality.

2. Olive oil is OK, but not so effective, try Vaseline.

3. Mostly is caused by internal inflammation caused by allergen, insufficient sleeping time etc.

4. you can read about my case from my previous posts.

  once a week

2. Type of fabrics for most of your clothes
    cotton

3. Brand of your shower cream and shampoo
using oilatum soap, Clairol herbal essence shampoo

4. Temperature/humidity of your living environment(if got working, please list your working place too)
at home it's normal room temperature, working & studying place is fully air cond

5. What time you sleep and what time you need to get up for work(if any)
i used to sleep late and wake up early (if i have something to do). but nowadays i'm trying to sleep by 11pm and getting up by 8 am since i read someone saying that sleeping early helps. and it really does help. i do sleep better now.

For atopic type:

1. Antihistamine not effective for your case, it making you drowsy and it wont aid you for better sleep quality.
Surprisingly, so far, no anti histamines make me drowsy. Even chlorpheniramine doesn't make drowsy  biggrin.gif

2. Olive oil is OK, but not so effective, try Vaseline.
tried vaseline but it's a bit too messy for me. olive is more manageable and lost longer on my skin.

*
Good then, it seems your skin type is not so dry like mine, currently my only prob is just sleeping time adjustment, since previously I late sleep till my whole body into emergency acute eczema phase once(it is very scary and suffering, hell/instant die is better feel than the acute type). When you sleep well, actually many problem/symptom of eczema can be solved easily.

*
Haha Thanks la, currently my condition improving already... All need to be done is get my lifestyle corrected, the root of cause for my acute response is eczema inflammation caused by insufficient sleep repititively(dulu me stubborn insist sleep late despite working at 8.30am)

Check my previous post in this thread, it is hell to me during acute response.
