for me it feels like this 'timing' is one of the factors. others include at which stage of the game, your current hunter level and weapon used, which quest, which specific monster at that point your objective is, etc. one more thing is the weight each of those parameters are given in the formula ...

all in all ... give a pretty random feeling though it's definitely based on some formula/algorithm.

Do you know that item drops are not as random as claimed? You could go through a session with all the rare items available, and sometimes only common items no matter how long you have farmed.

I knew a trick is there, but I haven't tested it nor understand how it really worked. It has got something to do with the timing you boot up the game.

difficult to handle meh?  unsure.gif

Added on February 24, 2012, 1:34 pmnot sure such effort is required or worth it but i've seen a post on jp blog that recommended making an armor mainly with Pirate J chest and arms. the head, waist and legs all with armors that give either chest or arm skill.

with that you'll have Good Luck, Carve Master, etc ...

and since you'd mainly be aiming for the carves ... go quest, chop tail, carve. then die 3 times to end quest early. rinse and repeat.

the repel Ceadeus quest?

i think most of us just stay close to it and hit it till it dies ... (would be more convenient if u have sharp and fast weapon eg. SnS or LS or Slash Axe (sword mode)

at least that's what you should take advantage of bfor it goes to final area.

u can take underwater balistas (in addition to the ones u can collect in final area) and use them to shoot/break the horn or just hurt it from afar.

also can take advantage of the Dragonator when the monster gets near it. if u can hit it early might even get a 2nd chance to reuse again.

sidenote: if u run short of oxygen item u can also signal your companion with the Ancient mask ... that has ability to restore oxygen

i have included a panel on my touch screen control that let's me signal either Cha-cha and Kayanba by pressing their icons.

not sure if there are other ways to signal them without touch screen !

Yup just realized that I was to barter with the Argosy Captain a couple of mins after my post when a wild 'yellow conversation box' appeared on top him. Do his items for barter shuffle randomly, or he would inform every time there's a change in his inventory?

err ... dun hv the game so this is just a guess. doesn't the ZR button do something ? that may be mapped to Lock-on (or u want Auto lock on?)

Disappointment in the air sleep.gif

Gamepad is terrible to play this HD version, haven't tried the Pro Controller yet, but then it will lack the monster lock on option. Lose lose situation.
