Open University have a reputation of an open university which implies to possess an open admission system, meant for lower-tier students incapable of proceeding to higher reputation colleges.
On the other hand, USM is a national university. Supposedly, in terms of recognition, USM definitely surpasses Open University, and possessing a recognized qualification from a reputable institution removes doubts from employers. -Scratched- This post has been edited by reconnaissance: Dec 11 2011, 01:13 AM |

I support if you go USM since it is more recognized and your MBA will be more valuable in the future.
Good luck. |

All in All, depends on which field you are going to major your MBA in, any specialisation or interest you're going into?
Again, would you continue to further your career here in Msia? If yes, go for public Unis, save you money and would be useful. Coz if you're getting a good MBA from prestigious centres, it would be wasteful if you use it in Malaysia coz not many employers are willing to pay you high enough for your second degree. |

Just to share my opinion here, don't really mind of the Uni or college you choose. Is the way you study and perform at the place. My friend got a MBA but she is still earning rm4k+++ per month in executive level with 8 years working experience.

QUOTE(Nisha Rahmat @ Dec 10 2011, 06:08 PM) Im considering between taking MBA part-time in USM or taking it in Open university, which is better? Depends. If you're looking for brand recognition, quality with minimal cost, then USM is a better choice ... erhhh, actually better UM or UKM lah. Especially UM.If you're looking for brand recognition associated with flexible mode of learning, then OUM is better. Fees obviously much higher becoz it is private Uni. But then again, OUM is owned by a consortium of 11 PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES (UM/UiTM/UKM/USM/UPM/UUM/UTM/UIA/UPSI/UNIMAS/UMS). So that says a lot about its quality. Moreover, most of the Postgrad lecturers (part-time) come from Public Unis professors ... |

That's because she doesn't have negotiation skill to negotiate a higher salary, she gotta check out ramit sethi's salary negotiation course. |
