Russia Pulls Out of Indonesian Rocket System Tender

Russia’s arms trading company Rosoboronexport has pulled out of an Indonesian tender for the supply of multiple launch rocket systems, the company told Military Industrial Courier magazine.


The company pulled out because it had offered its Smerch rocket launcher system which “did not meet a range of technical conditions in the tender,” Rosoboronexport official Nikolai Dimidyuk said.


The Indonesian tender was released in February.


“No one wants to waste time, or lead partners into delusion,” he said. “That said, we remain of the opinion that this system fully meets the requirements of the Indonesian forces in the most important criteria, fighting effectiveness,” he said.


Rosoboronexport did not say in which criteria Smerch failed to meet Indonesian requirements.
Russia had offered a 22-ton variant of the Smerch system, but a more widely-sold variant weighs 48 tons.


Indonesia is a traditional Russian and Soviet arms customer and at present has contracts with Russia for delivery of Su-27SKM fighter aircraft, Mi-17 and Mi-35 military helicopters, and BMP-3 and BTR-80 infantry fighting vehicles.

KOTA KINABALU, (Bernama) -- The presence of 2,800 navy staff from the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) will ensure the safety of the Sabah waters and coastline.

Second Region Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Datuk Pahlawan Mohammad Rosland Omar said based on the strength of the TLDM staff along the waters of Semporna, Sandakan and Tawau has increased the capability of the navy to defend the country from any serious threat.

"Sabah waters is a 'hot area' so we are carrying out operations 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Though we are faced with various predicaments while on duty, we are able to overcome any threats involving illegal immigrants," he said at the TLDM open day at KD Perak here Wednesday.

Flight sims are still good. X-plane and FS9 have good military add-ons. Also check out stuff like Level-D, PMDG, JustFlight etc for more realism.

America's Army, ARMA2 & Operation Flash Point:Dragon Rising are alright if you play multiplayer. But not much realism, even if compared to paint ball.

However since you mentioned flight sims, the undisputed king is still Falcon 4.0 (with mods) and anything from the DCS series.

If you're a hardcore cold war fan, SAMSIM will be a definite hit !
