Many says that rooting or installing custom rom is alright, as the owner can restore the device to stock before warranty. In my opinion, risk is always there. The reason we send the device for warranty, is for hardware failure. What if the damage extends to the USB port, or has partially impaired the device's functionality due to motherboard damage.
