After trying several methods to resolve the heat issue and battery drain and those didn't work, I went to Brightstar HQ in PJ. Got a new set after 'haggling' forcefully with the customer support person. My questions are:

1) Do I have to register the set again for warranty on Brightstar website? I got the 24 months warranty originally as I bought it within the promotion period.

2) When does the warranty start, from the date I originally bought the phone or date that I got the new set?

3) I managed to use the same BB ID on this phone and got a message saying that emails to the my old set has been terminated but when I log in to the BB Protect website and use my ID, it shows the pin to my old set. Do I need to resolve this or does it even matter?

^^Tried to register the IMEI, this came up

IMEI entered is invalid, please check your IMEI number again and ensure that your BlackBerry Smartphone is from Brightstar.

Now what? Should I call Brightstar to clarify?
Thanks

lol at the word "haggling" there , hmm, at least, you still get the replacement..

1. this, you need to ask the Brightstar, but AFAIK, the replacement set is  just have basic warranty , try enter your IMEI at --> https://bbwarranty.my.brightstarcorp.com/BBRegistration.aspx

2. try to register your IMEI first[at no.1] , AFAIK , you will just get basic warranty, and the warranty start from the first date you originally bought the phone , [not from the date you get replacement set]

3. Seems that, you have register the BB Protect with that ID , yes.. you need to solve that.. just add your current phone in your device list..[in manage devices]

Info for anyone else in similar situation. Poster above is right, warranty is valid from original date of purchase but there is NO need to re register in Brightstar's website as it is automatically done by service center.
As for BB Protect issue, tried to add device in 'Manage Device' but no such option is available.
Service center will contact me after CNY hols to update on resolving this. Once done, will update here.

Just got my BB a black American Icon case. Can't believe how good it looks compared to the cheapo one I used earlier. Even my hubby who's usually not that observant, noticed how gorgeous my phone looks with its new baju rclxms.gif

I had this problem. According to Brightstar service center in PJ, it's OS issue. Managed to convince them to replace with new set as mine was not even a month old. New phone, no issues at all, no heat, reasonable battery performance and smooth IU
