QUOTE(tomzy @ Apr 24 2006, 07:31 PM) i'm using traktor dj studio as a supplement to my usual DJ setup and i find that its really great and versatile. i could cross mix mp3s with vinyl and play cds on traktor. Gives me far greater choice of material to mix with considering the availability of vinyl here. and i don't have a CDJ...yet. so traktor is the only thing i use to mix mp3s/CDs with vinyl.of course, this only works well if you're a mix dj, if you're a scratch dj, best guess if you could use traktor to loop the sounds and then at least use a turntable to scratch the samples on. |

QUOTE(LanEVOchris @ May 7 2006, 10:43 AM) OK thanks alot!! I saw the prices of the belt replacements USD20 man!!! Sumore it's my dad's turntable i dare not touch di. I'm thinking of getting the Numark Starter Kit!! Is there anyway to link it to my computer?? for your belt drive turntable its ok to mix with it, but scratching is extremely hard.numark starter kit is not good for scratching because the turntables are also belt-drive, but if you're really on budget then no choice lor... if you're serious about DJing, chances are you'll grow outta these decks really quick and upgrade them pretty soon....if possible try saving hard for a pair of technics SL-1200 or vestax to link the turntable to computer do you mean you load samples in mp3/wav format in computer then scratch over them on your decks? to do that you'd need to buy final scratch. if you just mean by cross-mixing between vinyls and mp3s then you only need to get some software like traktor and use an external mixer. QUOTE(Dj How @ May 30 2006, 10:05 AM) I'm into anything from trance, tech house, hard trance, some deep trance, NRG (fav.), progressive, sometimes even tribals too. What about u ? I do prefer some faster pace, more bpm, higher energy! quote: i know, m'sians usually calls it "feng tau" thingy....not! i spin mostly psychedelic trance and tech house....but occasionally also abit of progressive, tribal and deep house. |

QUOTE(tomzy @ Jun 2 2006, 06:53 PM) i think the worth cdj to get is pioneer cdj1000mk model above due to it's variety of functions and that really cost a bomb. after seeing superstar dj with that and a good mixer really does amaze me. one of them was eddie halliwell that firing up the crowd during his performance. cdj800 is not bad too if you don't have as much cash as you need for the cdj1000mk3 model |

CDJ800 would be around RM3k++ per unit...as for CDJ500, it doesn't scratch, so its a major setback there...

QUOTE(darrelchin @ Feb 25 2007, 11:35 PM) i' m very interested in learning to DJ is there any shop u know of in KL tat sell DJ stuff or anywhere else?and if so how much would u think a beginner set will cos? try groove syndicate in desa sri hartamas or sinamex in times square...that's where i get most of my gear from =) and there's this place in puchong called acoustic sound & lighting that carries vestax gear.beginner sets would start from RM3-4k i think. but do try to buy 2nd hand items that's in good condition and you'll be surprised with the kind of bargains you can get. |

I've heard of places like Allies or Excessive but haven't really been there before. i'm considering of buying them in here melb, they're selling for A$900 ea., but i dunno how to ship them back. Any info appreciated thanks
