Check out my thread on Records For Sale. Great for those interested in scratching. Anybody scratch here?

Get a pair of 2nd hand Technics 1200 if you're not sure what to get. No regrets even if you found out this isn't the hobby for you.

Anybody here buy albums on vinyl? Not just strictly for DJing purposes.

Djs and Sifus i would like to ask a question.
What if I had a very old Technics Turntable (the one they use to play old vinyls) Can I use it to scratch vinyls and use it like a DJ turntable??

Sure...... if you want to destroy the turntable.......
The problem with the SLB, is that it's belt drive...... which means it turns via a belt (Like a washing machine), as opposed to a direct drive....
Not to say a belt-drive turntable can't scratch. Many budget turntables are belt drive too, but the belt has to be replaced every so often. And judging from your OLD turntable, I say the belt hasn't been replaced and the parts are already old.

You can probably play records on it....... but definately NOT scratch without seeing permenant damage.

for your belt drive turntable its ok to mix with it, but scratching is extremely hard.

numark starter kit is not good for scratching because the turntables are also belt-drive, but if you're really on budget then no choice lor... if you're serious about DJing, chances are you'll grow outta these decks really quick and upgrade them pretty soon....if possible try saving hard for a pair of technics SL-1200 or vestax

to link the turntable to computer do you mean you load samples in mp3/wav format in computer then scratch over them on your decks? to do that you'd need to buy final scratch. if you just mean by cross-mixing between vinyls and mp3s then you only need to get some software like traktor and use an external mixer.

Ummm..... Actually, the Numark Starter that "I" Have is a pair of TT1625, which ARE Direct Drive....

Numark starters are a good choice because it's easily available in KL, and it's quite reliable and cheap. Of course, if you have extra cash, you can get them seperately and get a higher end turntable and mixer.

the numarks battlepak is a great starter kit..you might wanna look at stantons starterkit offers as well..numarks have improved their quality so it isnt fair to always criticize if you dont have a bad experience with them..i have a few friends who are actually USING numarks AND the Technics and they have no complaints with them..one of them is using the TT200 and it has better torque than the technics..and one of the are using the TTX-1 and he says that it`s waaaaay better than the technics decks any day..personally i dont own any TT`s but based on my research and testimonials from ppl athat are close to me..numarks are on par or better then the technics..a good begginer TT`s are the numark TT200`s.im getting the TT500`s though.these are my opinions based on my own research.

Yeah.... the newer ones are numbered differently. I agree that Numark makes Excellent decks.... But Stanton is also producing fine pieces these days too..... but I HATE the new "modern-retro" design that they are forcing down our throats. I'll stick to Numarks now thankyouverymuch.

rclxm9.gif hey how's it going guys! I'm new to this, sorry for just popping in! Well just to share, I'm a Gemini and Behringer fan. Gemini has some pretty good range of decks (though not the best - Technics RuleZ)~ I'm happy with mine ( XL-300). Behringer make some pretty easy and hardcore mixers. I've used my equips for many parties and underg. mix scenes. oh, and Yes, I'm a vinyl guy. Have no clue off the high-tech computer mixing stuff, but trying to get into it. I saw this forum and thought that it's cool. Well, nice meeting u guys!
