Single core of course. Having said that, I'll take dual core anytime for its multitasking capabilities Opteron 939

QUOTE(zeroking @ May 16 2006, 12:26 AM) No I don't. I have an XP120 though but a friend is using it right now.....I'm at 2.8Ghz right now with 1.632v according to CPU-Z. SP2004 failed after a few minutes but I played BF2 for nearly an hour without any problems. Will try Folding overnight and see how it goes. This post has been edited by arj: May 16 2006, 12:49 AM |

QUOTE(Hyde`fK @ May 16 2006, 02:05 PM) For me stress test is doing what you normally do with your PC for a few hours. If they manage to run without any problems, you're good to go. If you want your PC to be rock stable, Prime/SP2004 is the way to go. |

QUOTE(ichiban @ May 16 2006, 11:08 PM) my opty 165 only can do 292X9 at stock vcore. cant go higher. If I go higher I got the message C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing/corrupt. dont know what to do anymore. That's a pretty good overclock with stock vcore. Try increasing it if you want to go higher. |

I found that changing the chipset cooler does not improve my overclock at all. With the HR-05, the chipset temp is in the low 40s while the temp with Vantec Iceberg that I used to replace the faulty stock cooler is in the low 60s.

I've written down the steppings of dual core Opteron that can reach 3Ghz that I found at XS. Thinking of going to LYP tomorrow and look for them

QUOTE(squall_12 @ May 17 2006, 08:35 PM) i thinks i got this stepping CCB1E 0609FPAW for my opty 170 so need some expert here for some help if i want to overclock what are option i need to tweak to overclock the cpu, i have a dfi ultra-d board and a Gskill HX series 2gb rams....need some help here i already read most the faq from this forum but still still a bit confusing so can anyone show me some help or give me some hints to guide me...... For starters, just play around with the HTT and don't touch anything else. Increse the HTT by 5 and then run some stress test. Run dual SP2004 for 5 minutes. If there's no errors, go back into the BIOS and increase the HTT summore then do the stress test again. Repeat this until errors pops up. At this point you have two choices; back off by about 50Mhz and that should be a pretty stable speed or you can start increasing the vcore. If you increase the vcore, repeat the above steps all over again. |

QUOTE(gengstapo @ May 19 2006, 09:32 AM) 1.67 in the BIOS QUOTE(ichiban @ May 20 2006, 11:24 AM) I have opty 170 CCB1E 0550VPMW with ihs removed. Dont know what problem is but if I remount ihs, pc cant boot but can without ihs. want to list at ebay but dont know how to fix that. any opinion? What cooler are you using? If you're using one of those clip types, removing the IHS reduces the height of the processor by a few mm so the contact between the heatsink and the core will be a bit loose.QUOTE(ahbenggay @ May 20 2006, 01:41 PM) Probably. The new socket should be out by then. |

QUOTE(ichiban @ May 21 2006, 02:26 AM) what water block did you use? my temp kinda high around 56 load @ 1.475v with mcw6000. If I push some more temp would be 60+. I'm using a Storm, BIX2, MCP650 and a bayres. At the moment the processor is at 2.73Ghz, 1,568v (CPU-Z) with a full load temp of 48 degrees. |

QUOTE(highland @ May 22 2006, 10:05 AM) [attachmentid=109446]hi The chipset temp looks kinda high for watercooling. It's normal for the PWM temp to increase when you use a waterblock for the processor because there's no fan to help move the air around the the area.just another question about temp currently running opty 170 at 2.6 using dfi cfx3200 cpu,vga and chipset on water but smart guardian shows a high temp for pwmic and chipset bios also shown the same temp is it something wrong with sensor or the mobo itself thanks Are you using an X1900XTX? What's the full load temp with the stock cooler and the waterblock? |
