QUOTE(selinix @ Dec 9 2011, 10:28 AM) So can say without the KNN will obtain another 8-10 HP. For 2.0, with the present version of RPW (which Kenny can tweak further) there is oredi a 7 bhp improvement, by maths. K&N filters improves 3 bhp.Loan should be approve today. So if possible will get my car next week. Will drive a few days and get the tuning done to compare the difference. If not satisfy can refund? K&N filters =RM220 for 3 bhp = RM73.33 per bhp improvement RPW remap =RM200 for 7 bhp = RM28.57 per bhp improvement Hail King Kenny. |

A Proton Technician's advice for those going for bump stopper replacement. That process involves the dismantling of ur springs/absorber, and one do not this often. Sharing this so that ckk125 and Pips, going soon, can prepare early
BYO pads so that some noises at ur springs/absorbers can be reduced. Pads can be made of hard rubber, polyurethane or hard PVC. At the very least, bring ur typical coloured plastic water hose as a cheap alternative. FYI, front lower part for me car has right n left pads bought @ RM100 per pair. Rear nothing. Sigh, this advice is an after-the-event for me. Pads are to be seated/rested on the springs cups at the absorbers ( or perch or dunno whatever term) sandwiched onto the uppermost & lowermost part of our springs coil. ( hey, i did electrical engineering not automotive engineering). This proposition is not something that is long-lasting, but if u can get small polyurethane tube or pliable hard black PVC hoses ( those plumbers use) , may be better. I have seen Hyundai using polyurethane for that purpose n still over time those break/decompose/hancur over time. Dunno whether shops got sell these pads. Haiya, that was some long karangan. Still, hope did not bore u and of some help. This post has been edited by matkela: Dec 9 2011, 04:31 PM |

QUOTE(ckk125 @ Dec 9 2011, 04:33 PM) COE took 4 hours to do the bump stopper replacement. May be, that, because they had to go out to get them bump stoppers as they did not have stock. The overhead lighting system at the service bays failed that afternoon. Techs were working in near dark conditions ,besides , it was a gloomy rainy day.As said earlier, kluk kluk ( the technician called it kruk kruk) sounds was reduced but not totally eliminated. I feel as time progressed on, the sounds seems to slowly come back in bits, irrespective whether it is wet or dry as one drives. Or may be, because i am having lowered springs and stock long-travel absorbers, noises do develop for that kind of unsuitable suspension setup. |

QUOTE(DM3 @ Dec 9 2011, 04:41 PM) Inspiras do not come provided with those pads as a stock suspension setup. It is Proton that is advising people to get pads as their suspension setup developed lots of noise problems. See, they had to replace ARB bushings and absorber bump stoppers for free.In fact, i was told some unlucky owners did not get bump stoppers on their units when they take delivery of their cars. Dunno how true. |

QUOTE(generalhwh @ Dec 9 2011, 04:59 PM) wanna ask whether u guys took out the spring buffer b4 for this bump stopper replacement..coz my car have this kluk kluk sound... i do not have spring buffers on my car, so i hate to really speculate.can only theorise that if those buffers can stretch unsprung ( no car weight acting on spring coils), i suppose those buffers should not be dismantled from the springs Added on December 9, 2011, 5:15 pm QUOTE(ngjx @ Dec 9 2011, 05:06 PM) the story goes that Proton install them at the first 1k service timeThis post has been edited by matkela: Dec 9 2011, 05:15 PM |

QUOTE(K3nnYkl82 @ Dec 9 2011, 06:32 PM) i felt damm uncomfortable .. but those youngster all says VERY comfortable .. more comfortable then stock .. coz all sudah GILA sit on it while taking conner like rollercoaster .. lolz i have to agree with Kenny on that aspect. My mechanic fren ( he races sometimes) also has told me the same thing. Drivers who wants to take corners at high speeds plus races on street roads ,with abandon, will find adjustables to be good. Cars on racetracks need adjustables as when racing cars squat, rolls, dives or lose their every balance, precious time, be it hundreds of milliseconds, is lost on track.i have never done any racing. Just that, when a mechanic friend with that kind of honest opinion talks, one has to really think a few times before investing in adjustables. Good that adjustables are, but if like me, who drives sedately, things looks to be an overkilling to my wallet. My 2 cents opinion |
