Hi Guys,

My water heater is installed by plumber, and I need to do the wiring now. I need to get a 2.5mm2 wiring and direct plug into the 15A wall socket. Correct me if I am wrong, coz the instruction manual mentions about some 300mA fuse.. etc. stuffs. Those are optional?

Anyone DIY it before, please comment. thanks.

first time DIY ? better advise you to get a real electrician to install

else wrongly done = short / wiri burn / and etc = SHIT thing will happen

better to have a proper understanding of wiring works 101 and 102 ..

get a real electrician to install then "See" , "Ask" and "Learn" smile.gif

My house already equipped with the 15A socket. The switch to turn on/off water heater is already there.

Basically, my water heater is just installed below the 15A socket. I already know the 3 points L/E/N inside the water heater.

Just want to confirm if instant water heater wiring is just as simple as from the 15A socket -> water heater via 2.5mm2 wiring points. Directly connect?

First time DIY for water heater, but wiring is nothing new. I DIY for alot for my house stuffs.

If you knew about electrical DIY, than just wiring up the heater as what you do for others electrical applicance. It is direct connect and no others thing in between.(STD without extra safety)

Just makesure

1) You know what is L/N/E
2) Use Aircon cable type
3) Round pin socket and plug.
4) Screw tighty and secure.

Happy DIY smile.gif

Added on December 7, 2011, 11:33 amI was trying to find the 2.5mm² x 3C wire, but the shop says this 70/0.193mm x3C is the typical water heater wire. It seems this wire going to sustain till 20A of continuous current.
Can anyone confirm this?

If any expert around, can advice the different between 2.5mm² x 3C wire and 70/0.193mm x3C.

The shop has only grey color, I prefer to get a white color wire. Any shop in KL/PJ that sells wide range of wires? Please recommend. thanks

You're thinking too much OP, from my understanding you have the water heater and socket for water heater already in place, just need to connect the water heater to the socket, which is like 1-2 feet away?

The 70/0.193mm cable should work, if you're paranoid then go buy cable with even bigger diameter. If you're still paranoid, after your long shower go and feel the wire whether it is overheating or not.. biggrin.gif

You no need to purpose ask for those wire size term.

Just tell them I need a wire size for 1.5hp aircon. All will know what wire size will give you. If you want others than normal grey color, go to pasar road. Apa color also got.
