Hi to all Betta sifu(s), need to ask few question. I'm new to betta rearing. I have a regular Betta fish i put it together with Panda Cory, the Betta kacau Panda abit on the 1st day and thats all, i guessed it just wanna check the fella out. I standby a small pvc pipe about 3/4 inch in diameter 5cm length for Cory hiding just incase but turned out that after the 3rd day my Betta went hiding inside . When i went near the tank, Betta faster came out from the pipe swimming on my direction macam kenal i. Is this a typical behavior of Betta?

Haa ic and i thought why he went hiding inside the pipe that was meant for panda cory. Guess i was over thinking then haha

Hi all Betta sifu(s),
I want to ask something odd. I owned a veil tail Betta for like one month already. This 2 days he was like staying very still at one position face facing upwards, tail down. He still breathing lah but arh he can stay like that for like 15 minutes long. When i went near him he move around but after awhile he went back this position . Is something wrong with him arh?

It was Mon i did water changed, he seemed happy that time. His body size looked to me very matured or maybe you called it old lah. I put female at the same tank wif him wif transparent divider arh, very active last week, bubbling everyday but these 2 days like emo macam. Never seen fish so sad before lah. Female seemed fine though just mind her own business dun even dare to go near him. Do you think he got sickness ka Edmund?

haha like that also can. No place to put female, might aswell put there 1st lah let him active lah. If he betul betul sick arh i must remove the female liao. Not sure yet still observe. Water change only 20% also like that. Maybe he makan semut. Got afew ants crawling near by.

Huh? Really arh Kayote? Haizzz... maybe is the age lah, i kinda doubt it also. Kesian this poor fella, i just wonder how long oredi he had been in the LFS and from previous owner.

huh? ini macam? no wonder lah. It's impossible to breed lah the size of that female smaller than his size by twice, it will result in death female. But arh... ya i think you are right maybe he flare too much. I oredi put the female in different container liao . He still dunno the female gone liao macam tidur. Sometimes i need to ketuk the tank abit only he will wake abit like 'oh, my owner is here oredi'

aiyak! like that if he suddenly gone to heaven one day due to this cause i think he die happily also

To all sifus here, i need to ask something from your expertise pertaining Betta eggs. I haven't try any breeding before but past 2 days has been really stress. The question goes :
1) Do you think Papa Betta will still guard the eggs if the eggs were rotten?
2) If after 48 hours the eggs didn't hatch, does it mean that the eggs rotten?
3) After 36 hours, how an healthy eggs looks like? Does it still appeared like white spot in the bubble nest?

Hi oneOone, thank you so much for replying. I oredi doubt the eggs i just need confirmation because my tank water hasn't been change for like 10days when i asked this question and i over fed the papa Betta. Anyway they remain white dots even after 48hours so i dun wan risk the papa health oredi i changed water yesterday. Today he is so happy and active again, previous few days was like very mellow like that. Maybe give it another month i'll try again.

That is one real beauty mengdez, is it hmpk gold platinum? Do you have any beautiful hm female up for sale?

ic wow all your fries must be chubby & cute. I read somewhere those that keep strong betta generation normally just let them live in small pond, those fries eat whatever that available to them, most of the time infusorian or insect. The stronger ones only survife. Maybe thats the way of betta live in wild.

Added on September 7, 2012, 3:24 pmMaybe the coloration just came out? If he still makan normal and active then there is no worries but to be safe maybe you should find one small dried daun ketapang, wash abit & let it float inside the tank. Your betta would love you for that .

Added on September 7, 2012, 3:36 pmWow i'm not an expert here but it looks like fin rot. My betta also kena before. What i did change 30% water with conditioned water then add a pinch of salt (sorry i dun hv measurement as i do things only agak agak) then add dried daun ketapang let it float in the tank. To ease your little guy i suggest you reduct the level of water so he no need struggle taking air at the top, let it rest much. Only feed if he wants to eat.
I did just that with mine, it took quite sometimes for him to heal. If water became brownish the next day, it is normal because of the daun ketapang macam tea leaf and will aid it's healing process.

If kenot then use google to search for "Daun Ketapang", just remember to search using 'Image' option at google page. You'll get alot picture pertaining this leafs as well as the tree. It is also call Indian Almond Leave (IAL). It grows wildly everywhere surrounding yo if you live in malaysia, you just need to pay attention where ever you go. I know it sounds ridiculous but that's how i learnt LOL .
Where ever i went i just look for Ketapang Trees until now i realize they grew everywhere including along those highway like Kesas or even Federal Highway and also some at the road side on the way back to my house. Learn to reconize the leafs and tree. Tried pick up those that freshly fallen from tree . The way to tell is, the leaf will looks little brownish and 'Still Soft' and very glowing/kilat surface. Those that oredi fallen long ago will be very kering until it easily crack. You'll be expert slowly dun worry, i started from scratch too

If you've been there and still no luck finding the one you love then maybe this plakat you saw in this fish shop worth buying. Anyway the most important is there's the connection there when you saw the 1st one that you loved the most, that is the one..no matter how expensive it is.

I think we all learnt from each other lah, still nothing beats experience . Other than making bubble, the male most of them are good daddy. Really surprised me when i read about betta, its the male that tend the eggs other than female . Kudos to betta, think its similar with seahorse carrying pregnant tummy haha the toughest job done by male.

Added on September 12, 2012, 11:34 pmHmm i think arh... i saw a couple of white ones at the petshop Ikano, there are also a few rose tail around. Remember dun overfed them to prevent planarian worm over crowd your breeding tank, they feed on left over food and fish eggs. I have read those today and it really gross leh, my bulu roma still stand until now, yulk!
