The Zeonic Forces game were scrapped, well, it was meant as a test anyway. For the good ole' D&D fantasy, the group decided to temporarily halt the game until we got fantasy high for it. So in the meanwhile...

D20 Modern Occult : The Minutemen

A combination of Hellboy / Constantine / Cthulu scenario where forces beyond imagination DO exist in the modern day world.

Introduction:

It is May, 2006. Few weeks ago, a group of small time crooks were caught in the act by cops and were sentenced by Judge Holloway for their criminal offense to the maximum prison of Fort Worth. Among the prisoners, Lucianno 'Scarface' Angelo, son of Federico Angelo and head of the Angelo family whom Lucianno were sentenced for 10 years in prison for arms smuggling.

During the transportation, the armored truck were hit. The masked men murdered two police officers and rescues Scarface, leaving the small time crooks on their own. In this way, the cops are more likely and easily to track down inexperienced crooks to buy him more time for an escape. They began to make their escape before the police arrives, robbing along the way to get a hold of cash and weapons. But in the end, they were caught because of their carelessness and were sent to a prison cell in the police station.

They then were visited by a man. The mysterious man in his mid-sixties who called himself as Agent Graves, began explaining to the crooks that in order to avoid 20 years of imprisonment with charges of robbery, assault, grand theft auto and 3 charges of murder where two of the victims are the police officers, they either swore their allegience to Graves' society or stay in prison and rot. They weren't given much of a choice and chose to work for them. A job is still a job. But why did he chose these crooks? It was Scarface Angelo who took an interest on them, the crooks able to withstand for a few days without capture, resourceful in some cases that the society observe their actions. Graves began to explain what's really happening to the world right now as we speak.

“Let me tell you a story so indulge me even it’s a bit far fetched. During the old days, whatever you ever read about myths and superstition, were true. Although the books they wrote about these stuff has fiction and truth about them, like vampires afraid of garlic bullshit. The monsters do exist and terrorizes the people, consuming everything in their paths. Fast forward a few hundred years; this country weren’t founded by our forefathers as so said in the history books, if you ever read one.

It was founded by a group of aristocratic elite nobles who sees the opportunity to grab the free lands while it still there and enforce their protection against the occult and the supernatural entities, whatever means necessary without the public knowledge to avoid panic. They called themselves, the ‘Trust’. This group swore an allegiance, a blood oath, to combat whatever threat to the country. Thus they formed a specialized occult task force unit, called ‘The Minutemen’.

These men are highly trained in the occult to deal supernatural forces beyond normal convention. We've been waging an occult war for centuries, from Hitler's GGG, the Gergengheist Gruppe to mad cult worshipers trying to awake a dead god in a deep sea. Now you're one of us and are officially, the ‘Minutemen’. Hard to swallow to all of this? You’ll proberly wondering if this is all true and why you haven’t seen any of the supernatural entities in all your lives.

You might not have seen them because you're lucky enough to avoid them or maybe you did but chose to forget it. Ever read the tabloids on how people saw sightings of strange creatures? There’s your answer right there. People chose not to believe such things and preferred science and logic to answer it for them. Thus disbelieving that such entities do exists in the first place and keep reminding themselves that it's merely just hallucinations or they believe they become crazy. Not everything can be answered by that"

Of course that the group finds this all hard to believe, Graves shows them evidence of photos of the infamous Mothman and a skull of a demon. The study of the skull determines its origin dates back longer than 1000 years old. Still very skeptical of this, he shows them the final 'piece of resistance'...a small imp trapped in a runic inscribed cage. Forced to accept the truth, no longer that they are able to return to their normal lives.

Thus, this group of men begin their new lives as the 'Minutemen'...

In the apartment, given as a gift from the 'Trust', the Minutemen were handed their first task to investigate a series of missing people that some of them turned up a month later, dead. It was all over the news. Their deaths baffled the forensic team due to their stomachs were burst from the inside and the bodies were cannibalized. Police speculate that some form of psychosis turned these people to cannibalism. New to the proffession, the Minutemen begin their research by the clues given, getting the necessary information from the homeless, shopping for packs of ciggarettes and making chinese meals. In the end, they found the information they needed.

It seemed that the homeless indeed saw some of the missing people lurking in the dark, filthy alleyways, scrouging for food through garbage. In one incident that they saw a horrifying act that these people attacked one of the homeless and ate him alive. It is also learned that these people were infected by a parasite called the Infesters.

The Infesters, blue-colored maggot-like creatures with maws that filled with inward pointed fangs where a fully grown adult can grow up to 4 foot long, frequent by burrowing into the flesh of a living being and nest in the host's brain. The infesters emits chemical fluids into the host's brain. This causes the host to have insatiable urge to feast on flesh, no matter the means, which also cause the host to be driven insane. This creatures of abomination are created from a highly polluted toxins, mutated and evolved these creatures to a new type of species. With enough information, they head to investigate in a alleyway where the homeless people first saw sightings of these 'missing people'.

What they discovered were a gruesome death of a man, partly devoured and blue maggot-like creatures found inside of the victim's burst stomach. The Infesters attack the Minutemen, hunger for their fresh flesh. They began biting onto their flesh, latching onto them and begin to burrow. Panicked, with quick enough response, they remove the infesters from their hands and squash them. But the horror is yet to be over, deeper into the alleyway, they discovered insane men and women who were in the middle of feasting on a fresh kill of a woman, tearing off chunks of flesh from the body and eatting it. Upon noticing their approach, they attacked the Minutemen.

A series of gun fire followed next and a good ole' fashion hand to hand brawl. Once the infected host are goes down, their stomachs wriggled and burst out the adult version of the 4 foot long Infesters. In the end, the Minutemen eventually disposed of the vile creatures, but this causes one of their own comrade suffered great injuries inflicted by the infected hosts who already bitten a chunk of flesh from his shoulder. Towards the end of the episode, they brung their comrade to a nearby hospital for treatment whereas the rest returns back to their aparment for a good, peaceful night of sleep.

What is in store for the Minutemen in the next episode? Tune in for the next Minutemen adventure.

Part 2: No Man's Land

It was in the early morning that Agent Graves visits the Minutemen to pass them their @ssignment. He briefs them of a man called Elmar Ganz, who's a maniacal man from Berlin. Elmar Ganz is the great grandson of a German officer during WWI who were hung to death as a war criminal for using mustard gas against civilians, the grandson of a WWII Nazi doctor sent to the gas chamber for performing bizarre medical experiments on prisoners of war, and the son of a black marketeer who were executed in a firing squad for selling heroin on the streets of Soviet-occupied Berlin.

Needless to say, hatred of the establishment and homicidal tendencies are his birthright. Until a few months ago, he was simply another angry young man looking for a way to strike a blow against the forces he perceived as having oppressed by his family for nearly a century. All that changed when the Russian authorities released a warehouse full of previously classified material, among which were the personal effects of Elmar's drug-dealing father. The item of greatest interest to Elmar was the key to a safe deposit box at a Swiss bank.

Much to his disappointment, Elmar did not find a secret fortune there. In fact, the only item in the safe deposit box was a hand-bound journal covered in leather that had been made from human skin. Inside were notes, written by all his executed forebears, including a series of dark magic rituals developed by his grandfather.

Upon obtaining the book, he wastes no time and began studying black magic and learning the sordid details of his family's past has driven Elmar quite mad. He has no care or concern other than causing as much death and destruction as possible. Which lead him disrupting historical exhibits at museums located in several states of America in the past few weeks, causing dozen of people's death. And now, his next target is in Los Angeles California, where a WWI exhibition is held in the Museum of Contemporary Arts will be open to the public 3 days later. The Minutemen's mission is to stop Elmar's destructive actions permanently before more damage happens in the future and obtain the book before falling in the wrong hands of the worst people.

After briefing, the group head to get as much information as possible regarding the museum's blue print layout, personnel and etc. Successful only obtaining the blue print but learning nothing important that will help ease their mission. Their only solution is to wait until the deadline for Elmar Ganze to make his appearance. The day of the exhibition's grand opening begins 3 days later and the group didn't have much of a choice but to check out the museum from the inside.

But Elmar Ganz went earlier than the Minutemen by half an hour and managed to cast a few spells of Awaken Dead. Elmarknew what the museum curator don't, is that the trench that they dug up contained buried bodies of WWI soldiers. The ground rises of WWI dead soldiers, thus he is able to control 14 of them, each carrying in their dead hands, a Lee Einfield rifles.

The museum begins in the forum section, connects to the WWI gallery of display cases and to the actual trench of 'Battle of Somme' site, carefully dug up and transported from the fields of France. The ground around the top of the trench is bare of all grass and vegetation, but lengths of barbed wire spiral across the field. The walls and ceiling have been painted to show gray clouds overhead and forests and farmhouses in the distance. Hidden speakers play the sounds of men shouting in German, biplanes passing overhead, intermittent gunfire, and occasionally a mortar explosion.

The trench has parked a Renault tank with a 37mm cannon as well and a foxhole with a heavy machine gun, originally occupied by mannequins but now replaced by Elmar's undead Skeleton soldiers. When the Minutemen arrives into the trench, the dead soldiers has begun attacking the museum patrons by firing their rifles. The tank has been earlier occupied by two dead soldiers, brung the tank alive with its remaining fuel. It began blasting its shells onto some sections of the walls, its true purpose is to bring half of the musuem down where the Minutemen stands while their master is safely hidden and protected in the bunker.

Seeing the danger, Darian, JC and John quickly climbed up onto the trench, hoping to stop the tank by climbing inside. The tank begins to move and drives to try trample both Darian and JC to crush them, but both were able roll away from the danger onto the ground safely. John manages to climb on board of the tank but unable to pry open the hatch which were locked. JC quickly gives him a hand by disabling the hatch after he climbed up. On the other side, Slim and Dimitri is fending off the 8 dead soldiers and 2 undeads stationed in the fox hole. A lot of gunfire exchanged and bullets flying around, zipping passed them, hitting the walls and dirt.

The tank begins to move, trying to shake off the intruders, this causes JC to fell off the tank and down into the trench but John hung on desperately as much as he can. It drives through the walls, crashing into the gallery, the forum, into the museum's giftshop and finally the restroom while turning its turret to shake the persistent John off. He immediately pried open the hatch when it fully stops, took out his Beretta M3P Shotgun and shot the controls of the tank. Unsuccessful to disable the first time, the occupants of the tank shot John near the shoulder. The bullet bypasses his flesh, dealing heavy injuries and almost caused John his life. He shot the second time, destroying the controls, threw in a smoke grenade to buy him some time to escape for his life and head back to the trenches. The smoke bought him enough time to escape which the undeads began to chase him down.

Meanwhile, most of the undeads are defeated easily with Slim's boxing and Dimitri's firepower but the foxhole, manned by 2 skeletons with a heavy machine gun proved to be difficult. Bullets sprayed to their location, JC were unfortunate enough that he took many hits from the machinegun and fell unconcious with bullet ridden body. Not dead but dying, the rest immediately tries to get closer to the foxhole to stop it before more damage is done onto them, Darian followed next when he got closed enough to the action. After dodging a few attempts of being shot but in the end, he too took many hits to the body and joined JC as well. It was Slim that got close enough to defeat the undeads in the foxhole. Dimitri, whom took the chance to man the heavy machinegun, despite that he's not proficient to use it, began firing it and killed a few more whom rose up from the dirt later plus the ones from the tank who were chasing John after he took off.

After the door were complety shot to pieces by Dimitri at the bunker, Elmar Ganz finally revealed himself out to the open, alongside with 2 of his undead soldier. They were taken down very easily the next when Dimitri fired the heavy machine at their direction thus killing him and his guards instantly, a very anti-climatic moment. The Minutemen were victorious, took the book from Elmar's coat and called Agent Graves. Several police squad cars, ambulances and fire trucks waited outside of the museum due to the mayhem happened inside. Although the police are not to interfere the Minutemen's business, at the least, they're glad the mayhem is over. Most of the group were sent to the hospital for treatment of their injuries but only Dimitri the sole Minutemen came out of the carnage, unscathed. He then follows Graves for his next mission whereas the Minutemen has a future different mission coming to them after they gotten healed up.

Next upcoming episode...'Trouble in Black Rock'. Tune in the next Minutemen adventure coming soon.

That's an old game and i'm lazy to update it. Currently, i'm GMing in Toybox @ Taman Paramount and next month, i'll be starting a D20 Star Wars game for the Dark Side campaign. I'm trying to bring tabletop rpg awareness to gamers and non-gamers of all sorts.

I'm hoping to revive this thread back. Hey stan... still busy? Anyway... guys and gals... looking to meet with fellow dnders in kl... maybe get 1 or 2 of you to join my campaign.

Hey Abas, glad to hear from you in this forum. biggrin.gif

I'm currently slowing down on running my own campaigns as i'm suffering from DM burnt and the lack of "actual" players in my group. cry.gif

Currently, i'm pretty free these few weeks. I would join your campaign but the distance is pretty far from where i stay and i would prefer to be in a low level campaign starting up, rather than being in a middle of a high level campaign. sad.gif

QUOTE(areola @ Mar 19 2008, 10:55 PM)
Any gameshops that host tabletop RPGs? Can we have a list of FLGS?
*
To answer your question regarding about the Tabletop RPGs being hosted in gameshops:

1) Mid Valley (plays DnD)
2) Wolf's Gameshop (plays DnD)
3) Comics Corner in Damansara (consisting of 2 groups: 1 plays DnD and the other plays anything)
4) Toybox (preparing for 4th edition)

These are the only groups that i know of that still plays in gameshops. Problem is, most of the gaming groups play in their homes and are so badly segregated and isolated, so it's pretty difficult to find any of them.

QUOTE(Omnitricks @ Aug 1 2008, 04:23 PM)
so..........where exactly are the places in kl which can play dnd?
*
It's really depends on your location actually and it also depended on the group's playstyle.

1) DnDKL group in Damansara (Last heard that they're gonna go for 4th edition) contain more than 4 players
2) 1 group in SS14 (probably disbanded due to lack of players, but unsure of) unknown status
3) Jesse's group in SS2 or Paramount Toybox (Preparing for the 4th edition) looking for player
4) Abas' group in Bangsar (May still be playing 3.5 version) looking for player
5) 1 group in Sentul (last heard that they play 3.5 version of Forgotten Realms. I'm unsure if they still exist or not) unknown status
6) 1 group in Mid Valley (plays DnD 3.5, but may shift to version 4) unknown status
7) 1 group in Wolf's gameshop (plays DnD 3.5) unknown status

If you wanted more than just DnD...

1) Azlan's group nearby KLCC (using homebred D10 system) looking for player
2) My group in Bukit Bintang (starting a D20 Modern: Dark Matter) looking for player
3) Fiona's group in Cheras (using the Unisystem for Gurps) looking for player
4) Ivan's group in Damansara (tries anything from D6, D10 and D20 systems) contain more than 4 players
5) Baelin's partial group in SS14 (Plays D20 system using homebred rules) looking for player
6) Kuok's group in Bangsar (Plays D20 system of Iron Kingdoms but in MSN) contain more than 4 players
7) Erik's group in Amcorp Mall (Plays D20 system, possibly still into D20 Modern) contain more than 4 players

Any questions, feel free to ask.

is there a place near cineleisure, ikano or the curve?

I remembered that in Outpost (Cineleisure), probably on the second floor, that members in Outpost sell their DnD miniatures over there. But if you're looking for dices and books, you'll need to check on Comics Corner in Damansara Jaya or Bangsar.

yeah i went to outpost and they only have miniatures(looks useless but fun).
but i went to comics corner in atria and got some die there, and the people there are really friendly.

i'll buy my books from there.i've got everything except the forgotten realms expansion.
is it worth it?

If you're planning on running a game or are belonging to a gaming tabletop rpg group and the DM, allows Forgotten Realms campaign setting books, sure. The Forgotten Realms series is a very detailed setting and has a lot of nifty stuff to work on your character with, if you're playing that is.

I'm currently running a homebrew DnD campaign using the 3.5 edition rules system. There are several houserules with additional add-ons to the gaming rules such as criticals, call shots and etc. My group's playstyle is pretty serious but not to the point of shakespearean type of roleplay and we occasionally do joke around. So we want some serious players, not casual ones who won't bother to learn about the game and needs to be babyspoon fed every single time. I run my games pretty strict, with everything on it, from roleplay, to hack and slash, to puzzle solving, to enviroment challenge, etc, just so to cater every players' needs in the group.

So i'm looking for eager and serious players (not casual players), with at least a bit of experience of gaming (like, you had sample one or two games before). Even if you have no experience at all, we can teach you the basics, but the rest is up to your ownself to learn.

We're not letting in anyone in permanently, so if you're interested, we'll do some player try-outs to see if you're alight to game with us or not. So if you're interested, just reply the thread or gimme a PM.

I stopped gaming for several months now. sad.gif

Well technically, i stopped running games, coz i've gotten burnt out from being a gm all the time and my players refuses to switch roles of running games. mad.gif

icon_question.gif Am looking for a 3.5 group to join in as a player though coz my weekends are boring and my job sucks. yawn.gif

Not interested to try 4E because it's never really my cup of tea to start all over again with so little modules available right now.

Grif: There's used to be a shop in Bangsar Shopping Mall, i think should be 1st or 2nd floor there, a gaming shop that deals with comics and cards, table board games, etc. They sell miniatures, some D&D book materials, dices and stuff. You could also try finding MPH around your areas for D&D books

So I'm in a process on writing up an adventure/campaign based on my old homebrew campaign 15 years ago. I'm looking for players that's interested in playing my DnD 3.5 campaign. Specifically, players that's into roleplay, challenges, puzzles, and hard combat. The campaign is nothing too out of ordinary, it's a campaign world that's more or less similar to Faerun/Greyhawk/Forgotten Realms style.

A little about myself: Usually, my style of running the campaign, i'll tend to be strict, there'll be encounters that don't involve hack and slash but when there is a combat, it'll be hard if there's no proper teamwork or strategy to be had. I don't fudge my rolls so when there's a critical, i won't hold back. There'll be encounters involving the characters skills. There'll be puzzles and traps with puzzles.

About the campaign, what's it about: I won't spoil too much. But it'll be grim, it'll be gritty, and it'll be an evil campaign. Not the type that you go random slaughter or kill your own party members. I don't allow that. Not until the players established their personalities much later, then i'll relax that rule a little bit. There's a rule in my game, don't be a douchebag among your players or you're out. It doesn't mean there won't be any fun times. And it won't be "omg, such grimdark" kind of game. But the mood will set in for the proper tone.

In the evil campaign, you play in a party of evil adventurers. You'll do what you need to survive, to earn your coin, to work for jobs, to explore the dungeon, and so on. It's not any different being a good adventurer right? Well, there are differences. You could find artifacts to gain true power. Enslave the people. Or start up your own tavern business where underneath holds a secret organization that you and your fellows plan your evil deeds.

There'll be horror. There'll be Evil vs Evil. Kidnapping, murder, sabotage, espionage, blackmail, smuggling, human smuggling, organ smuggling, black marketeer, racketeering, drugs, interrogation and torture. The whole works. But being an evil campaign, there's still certain horrible boundaries that we won't cross and neither will the players. After all, we're here to have fun, not to be sick bastards.

Evil characters can still have friends. Not every evil characters had to be a sociopathic serial killers. After all, this is a campaign where a bunch of players work together to gain power, riches and glories, and have absolute power. Whatever fancies your boat, your character is the one that's going to carve that destiny. And i'm here to run the campaign and bring life to it.

So, i hope this pique your interest. If you're interested, do let me know. I stay in Bukit Bintang area (next to Times Square), so if you're from PJ area, just take the LRT to KL Sentral and then take the Monorail to Imbi. It's simple as that. Usually, i tend to run my games on the weekends and will usually run from 5-8 hours of game time from morning until evening.
