First time? It normally comes bundle with the purchase of Asus ROG Desktop. GenTechPC did a promotion throwing in the Vulcan as a free gift for a limited period previously.

SwissPac at BJC? I noticed that most computer shops at BJC are targeted towards the budjet segment of the market. They rarely stock high end models. Better chance at Queensbay. Is there a SwissPac at Queensbay?

Gadjetzone Penang already has stock for the G55VW. However, it's not on display. You only get to see it after you pay.
Any other places have stock yet in Penang? Especially in the Bayan Lepas area? I'd prefer to have a hands on before buying.

Hey Arvinaaa, how big is the G55? and what backpack do you use? I'm currently looking for a backpack that fits, most probably i'll be going for a 17" laptop backpack. From NBR forum, this is the measurement for the G55

14.8" x 11.8" x 0.9"-2.0" 8.4bs with 8 cell battery

doesnt really fits the backpacks that i want, even if its a 17" backpack.

And since G55 is just slightly smaller than the G53, any G53 users can offer their opinions about backpacks as well?

page 18 show G55 non 3D is 8 gb ram .which want is true?

Haha, well i've been busy. Part time work, then went outstation and just only came back to KL yesterday. Yep, i'm currently looking at only 17" backpack. I need bigger backpacks to fit my other stuff as well. But was abit worry cause i've been looking at a few backpacks. The ones that i want doesn't really go well with the dimensions I've stated above. Was wondering if its really an issue though..

the backpack i want measures:
40 x 27 x 4 cm

G55 in centimeters is
37 x 30 x 2.5 cm

exactly, pretty hard to get a backpack that i want. Or maybe i should just wait till i get my G55 and compare.. which is still nowhere to be seen........ 

The brand i want is either Gravis or Incase backpacks. I know incase is selling in Apple stores but not sure about gravis

not sure my current backpack can fit or not.. to me, buying backpack is easy la.. i trust crumpler i used to have a laptop backpack n it snapped on me, my netbook dropped hard on the floor together with the bag.. (note: netbook only) so i have no confidence with other brands unless those known for making bags

Same here, i was looking at crumpler too. Then moved on to Incase and Gravis. I think they're reliable, just spent a few days reading all the reviews. Should be good enough to hold the G55. Materials they used were pretty good. Just worry about whether can fit or not only. hahaha

There are a few others that are good laptop backpacks too. But i noticed a lot of malaysians using targus. Maybe cause they're very easy to find here  how does it feels to bring your G55 around in your backpack? sakit tak bahu?

hdd performance will get same speed with ssd at g55    (ssd 160gb enough?)
seem is not friendly to upgrade hdd 
im also not trusted  send to service center, if brand new laptop send to upgrade hdd

If you have the budget, then why not? another reason im getting a gaming laptop is for games as well 

well if you read a few pages back, riku2replica did show us that if we want to upgrade to SSD in the G55. It'd require us to rip apart our laptop which will void the warranty in the process. So basically you have to send to Asus to upgrade. And i dont really trust asus service center...

Anyway HRX07, if you're not in a hurry for a new laptop. Then just wait a lil while more for reviews about the new G55. Besides, if you're not travelling around then getting a desktop is always better

160gb currently is enough to use.actually can it using the max storage?
will get void warranty or not, if i switch the hdd to ssd by own?(SATA not mSATA)
