QUOTE(DrPitchard @ Oct 14 2013, 10:53 AM) I don't think we are going to see a 4 carriage monorails anytime soon. Most of the stations don't even have a wide enough platform to support the length of a 4 carriage monorail. Bro, the news from Prasarana already out, they stated 3rd quarter of next year but dunno will further delay or not...lol.The biggest setback has to be the monorail extension. With no proposal yet in sight, the earliest it will be up and ready for use will be post 2020. If you take the LRT extension as reference, rumours of it first surfaced back in 2006. Our then, deputy Prime Minister, Najib, announced this together with the Transport Minister Chan Kong Choy. The proposal was finally made to the public in 2009, for comments and feedback with a target completion in 2013. Now, the target completion is slated for 2015. Hopefully, there will be no more changes to the delivery date of the LRT extension project. That's a good 9 years since it was officially mentioned by a government top office. The monorail extension news is currently a shout out by a top management executive from a developer only. Assuming the rumours can be confirmed and PM gives his backing to the project tomorrow, if you add 9 years to it, that will mean sometime in 2022, earliest. Bare in mind, government has only mentioned about MRT line 2 and 3, and I think that will take precedence over monorail extension in terms of priority. From The Star: KUALA LUMPUR: Twelve new four-car train sets will be introduced as part of the RapidKL monorail expansion project due to be completed in the third quarter of next year, thus doubling the current capacity of the monorail line, Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad announced Tuesday. Its infrastructure development division group director Amiruddin Ma'aris said that at present, 12 two-car train sets operated on the monorail line with a daily ridership of more than 70,000 passengers, almost reaching peak capacity. The four-car train sets are expected to be delivered progressively from early next year, he said in a statement. Amiruddin, who is also the chief executive officer of Prasarana Integrated Management and Engineering Services, said the expansion project also involved the upgrading of stations and replacement of the signalling system. All the 11 monorail stations would be upgraded, some with extended platforms and new roofing, he said, adding that the station upgrading exercise was 85% complete. The fleet expansion project also included the installation of the platform automatic gate system to enhance the safety of passengers at the platform and the construction of a new depot to cater to the larger train sets, he said. Amiruddin said Prasarana would not compromise on passengers' convenience and safety in managing the monorail fleet expansion project. - Bernama This post has been edited by Xccess: Oct 15 2013, 08:54 PM |

The upgraded works should be suffice for 5 to 6 car-trains.
I believe they are still pending for an approval for the extensions to OKR. I seen some peoples compliant about monorail bla bla bla. But, do you guys know which type of public transport fetching the most high income expatriate? This post has been edited by Asali: Oct 15 2013, 09:26 PM |

Yeah, glad to read on that. We'll see how it goes. QUOTE(skcJVN @ Oct 15 2013, 09:07 PM) That will not be so soon and if it's announced, I'm sure it will come from the PM himself.QUOTE(Asali @ Oct 15 2013, 09:21 PM) Nah, that's impossible, in Malaysia's context. Do you know how long is 5-6 carriages? Even the existing 4 carriages for LRT is extremely long already. The infrastructure here and the level of need just hasn't reached that level yet. |

No worries Bro, just hope they can get things moving, after the expansion completed then they can move on to extension. With monorail extending it's service further out, it will do a lot of good for everyone. |

Economy circumstances or not, these infrastructure should always be the priority and should be running long time ago. They are working on it now and I have no answer to their main objective, since it is implemented, just be patience. This post has been edited by Xccess: Oct 16 2013, 01:15 PM |

QUOTE(babana @ Oct 18 2013, 02:01 PM) No news. Not confirmed as still very much at preliminary. Personally for me, it is better for OKR and Kuchai to be served by the CIRCLE LINE MRT since it is coming south from Sg Besi and passing by Pantai Dalam area. Forget about Monorail. But this is my opinion. What you guys think? This post has been edited by accetera: Oct 18 2013, 08:50 PM |

Circle line max coverage maybe just to the starting part of OKR . Monorail may better cover all along the OKR till joint the subang LRT station . The end of OKR are most the mid / low income group who really need the efficient public transport .

Type B is the most practical layout and price psf is lower than type A i also will take Type B.... this project has total 9 blocks, Block D that launching now is the best units to go in for EARLY BIRD ADVANTAGE - FIRST MOVER ADVANTAGE |
