i know this has been discussed before... but was there any outcome. sorry but was not really able to online the last few days... perhaps can put this as FAQ?!
Q1. Hissing sound from the charger. I do get that as well. Have read many users also faced that. I recall someone replying that it could be due to grounding or sth like that. The thing is... this hissing/ buzzing sound... is not really loud and i noticed that after a few hours, the sound is no longer there (especially if charge overnight and try to listen to it the next morning). Q2. While charging... I noticed some parts of the screen is not as sensitive. again, I recall many also mentioned this and again, could this be due to grounding?i didn't get this with sgs2. Will both Q1 and Q2 kill the Note over long term? Q3. Yes... This phone does lag a bit. It could be just after waking up the phone or something... But sometimes, my touch takes 1-2 seconds to register. it usually happens at the beginning when i start to use the phone -- maybe the phone just woke up or something. example: i touch the message button and sometimes it takes 1-2 seconds before the message screen appears. again, comparing with sgs2, i've not faced such a thing before. still, in 1 day... maybe this happens only like 2-3 times la... so its a small issue. |

QUOTE(dragon360 @ Dec 1 2011, 11:11 AM) looks like it.it is labelled Travel Adapter. Model: ETA0U70XBE Input: 100-240V~ // 50Hz 0.15A Output: 5.0V // 1.0A Can anyone check and confirm? Mine is giving the buzzing/ hissing sound -- but its quite soft and you need to really be close to hear it. |

QUOTE(zackhan @ Dec 1 2011, 11:48 AM) Same. especially during mid night, continous hissing sound is quite annoying and it is noticeable without going near it too, but once fully charge, Hissing sound gone. cut cost?!? i dunno... coz compared to sgs2... sgs2 came with normal charger + USB cable. with the note's travel charger, the save 1 cable. the travel charger uses the same USB cable. I wonder why samsung supply us a travel adapter with a fake earth ping plug? sgs2... i used to leave charger @ home and bring usb cable to office... easy to charge. now... have to carry both... worry 1 part left behind... the whole thing cannot use. |

QUOTE(KKW @ Dec 1 2011, 12:14 PM) very different...besides the A (output), sgs2 charger is a single piece... cable is 'together' with the adapter and not detachable like what we have with note. i guess i might give Samsung a call and see if this is considered a defect... i am concerned about long term effects... since it also affects the screen sensitivity during charging. also, i'll probably test with the sgs2 charger and see if the screen is also affected. |

Works great & the image is good ... Now the only problem is where to buy the vehicle dock kit ... DO i buy the ori "bit expensive" or buy those aftermarket ... Any good recommends ? Added on December 2, 2011, 8:46 am QUOTE(Damonzero @ Dec 1 2011, 10:02 PM) for sgs2, the pink spot usually happens only when taking photos under low light conditions... and obvious on white background.Added on December 2, 2011, 8:46 am QUOTE(xiphone4 @ Dec 1 2011, 06:53 PM) changed a new charger, but still have the gas leaking noise, compare to using iphone charger is almost mute. they = sme? i guess no point claiming warranty now... might as well wait for new batch first?!?u will not be able to sleep well if you use the charger that close to your bed. Anyway they will order a new one. This post has been edited by mydragoon: Dec 2 2011, 08:46 AM |

QUOTE(paskal @ Dec 2 2011, 04:38 PM) i've been constantly using PDAir cases for a few of my past phones and it has a premium leather case to it. both the front and inside have a premium leather feel to it that i really like. doesn't feel nor look like cheap plastic used for the construction. this pdair... the sides are also not protected, right? <-- at least that's how it looks like to me from the photo above.![]() though it adds to the bulk of the phone. the note is already huge and i really don't wanna add to the bulk. but the free flipcase is really not providing much protection to the sides of the phone. |

QUOTE(JustcallmeLarry @ Dec 2 2011, 05:00 PM) Icic thanks guys bcs I don't know anything about android till yesterday walking in gardens mid valley & saw this beauty the screen is really good bcs I use phone to do a lot of surfing Internet. How is the battery life for you heavy users? Will maxis be launching this phone with package soon??? your fren dun seem to really know about android... sure he's a fren?!? you can happily use android out of the box. heck, no need to even install programs on your computer (like say iTunes) to copy/ sync files... if you rely a lot on Google, then all the better. if not, still good to go out of the box. anyway, heavy users should be quite happy with note. i'm quite happy... with the note, i'm quite confident the battery can last me 12-14hrs... tested it on the first week as i was doing 'battery conditioning' then. however, now when i'm in office, i keep it plugged it (via usb on my computer). maxis... very, very unlikely they will be offering any more samsung products. someone commented they have removed all samsung products from their site -- too lazy to go to their website and check. QUOTE(JustcallmeLarry @ Dec 2 2011, 05:14 PM) Ic thanks yup i just check the maxis web site dont have this phone. So maxis confirm wont launch it??? sorry... i left my crystal ball at home and the crystall ball apps on my note can't seem to run today... will have to check with the dev later today... <-- it's friday la... seriously, no one knows what maxis will do in future. but the way things are going, its very unlikely they will launch Note. maxis is not known to be last to bring in a phone... note is already sold by digi and celcom. Added on December 2, 2011, 5:18 pm QUOTE(h11g @ Dec 2 2011, 05:13 PM) I've used sygic as well, and by far this gps app has the fastest lock on satellite. also i travel to sg using sygic and no issues or hiccups at all, minor complain is because i tinted my car with vcool so the signal not so fast, but when i wind my window down then no issues. worth the money i paid for it. just curious... can i assume all of you using gps apps will also have a car charger?!? i tested Map Quest and 30mins drained something like 15% of the battery. btw, MapQuest kinda sucks... QUOTE(keagan @ Dec 4 2011, 12:42 AM) guys wondering if any of you facing problems with your note screens...mine randomly has a change of hue in the colors... i just started using it today..kinda happens randomly..i had a sgs2 and didn't experience any problems...now!
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « i have gotten that before... in my 2+ weeks of using the phone, i think happened twice. both happened when i turned the screen on... what i did was turn the screen off (power button) and turn it back on again... the colours will go back to normal...not sure if its considered a defect... Added on December 5, 2011, 8:36 am QUOTE(Shizuru @ Dec 4 2011, 06:23 PM) just curious... what kinda launcher does 'vanilla' use?Added on December 5, 2011, 8:37 am QUOTE(fit @ Dec 4 2011, 07:09 PM) Yes..Samsung needs time to incorporate those samsung "bloatware" into ICS for Samsung Note and SGS2 .. bloatware including those customised apps for s-pen... customised... coz photo editor looks the same as the one in sgs2, but the one on Note comes with Pen option. else s-pen will be quite useless. Added on December 5, 2011, 8:39 am QUOTE(andrewleewaikeong @ Dec 4 2011, 09:05 PM) imagine the phone was smash to floor by someone so angry without realizing its your phone . that explains why... coz i recall there's a drop test video for Note as well and Note came out fine... i guess your case... the Note was hurled to the floor.not really shatter , but a lot of line line inside , planning to go to samsung service centre at PJ area tomorrow . i think my phone also senget already , in the sense maybe a little U shape my 6th day old GN This post has been edited by mydragoon: Dec 5 2011, 08:39 AM |

QUOTE(pigletbb @ Dec 5 2011, 12:24 AM) I'm going to get the note, but I'm struggling which service provider package should I take. Currently on Maxis, and there are only DIgI and Celcom offer the package with phone bundle. personally, no necessary to have to get a bundle from telco, right? just buy outright la...What I'm concern is the speed and coverage, Digi is cheapest but heard their line is quite poor. Celcom has better coverage but their only offer up to internet speed 512Kbps (Celcom Broadband mAdvance). I stay at Pandan area and working at Damansara or Bangi sometime, what I'm looking at is coverage and mobile internet speed .. emm i originally wanted to buy from telco but in the end, decided to just buy outright from SEP. reasons: * digi won't let me test the phone till i puas2 before i take that set. my concern is dead pixel. phone screen already so small, if got 1-2 dead pixel, cannot exchange -- even Samsung won't layan as they have criteria for dead pixel. * 1 yr vs 2 yrs warranty. so consider the extra i pay to SEP as warranty purchase la... * SEP let me test puas2 before taking the set. even agreed to let me test new unit if i m not happy with first set. |

QUOTE(jordan86 @ Dec 3 2011, 03:56 PM) I just realize a prob regarding the Spen. Sometime i can draw or select stuff without touching the surface of the screen and the distance between the pen and screen is quite far actually, yet still can draw. Anyone has this prob? yes... it should work as it uses some magnetic/ induction field... something like that la... |

QUOTE(ahchong04 @ Dec 5 2011, 10:50 AM) ya... tried before and it is ok. not sure what you mean by lag... tried between note and sgs2. update1: oh ya... i was kinda surprised there's an option to actually record the video call. you can actually record the other party... yes, i tested and it works. i think the format saved is 3gp though. update2: so be careful and dun be notti when calling samsung note owners (not sure if the function is available on other phones). never know if your video call is being recorded. <-- not sure if the other caller gets prompted abt the video recording taking place. ya... could be a privacy concern for some. QUOTE(ahchong04 @ Dec 5 2011, 11:06 AM) once in a while... occasionally when the camera/ subject move to fast -- like when caller showing you hamster running around, etc... then it gets pixelated a bit. but otherwise, quite good la...of course dun expect 1080p quality video. i think video call quality... quite low quality in general (for all phones). just that with the bigger screen, the 'low quality' becomes more obvious. |
