Hi guys,

A beginner question here. Do anyone have any way to use a Malaysia windows live account as primary ID on WP yet still be able to access to Singapore/UK marketplace? The main reason is the I don't want to lose all my Messenger contacts just to access the marketplace.

Btw, any word on marketplace availability in Malaysia?

try change your region to singapore.

I've realised my account region has been set to UK, and there seems to be no way to reset it to Singapore/Malaysia.

btw, please add me onto Lumia800 user (I'm waiting for GF's delivery rclxm9.gif )

Now I can't change it, so I could only download free application from UK marketplace, unless I found a way to attached my malaysia CC to the account?

Visit this Channel9 - Windows Phone 7 Development for Absolute Beginners and watch all of the video.

You'll learn everything you need to know, even if you know nothing about programming.

Since Nokia Lumia 800 is already launched in Singapore, will we see people bring them in to Malaysia? If the price is around RM1.8k I wouldn't mind purchasing it, but they are already selling at about RM1.9k in Singapore...
*
I believe when Lumia 800 rolled out in Malaysia, it's RRP would be cheaper than what Singapore is selling now by MYR100~200 (Based on comparison between N9 16GB price in Singapore & Malaysia).

Anyway, Nokia salesman has mentioned that it will be here around CNY and seems to confirmed by this piece of news: http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/09/nokia-l...ted-for-coming/

check this Lupunya Screen Gorilla Glass Test !!
*
Better still, try this

1. Go to Nokia store/dealer
2. Ask for N9
3. Pretend that you never knew that N9 has *Gasp* scratch resistant Gorilla Glass.
4. Snap back "How you know?"
5. In my case, the salesman gave me a blade to tests it out.

Your mileage may vary.

The Mozart's BIGGEST issue is the slow MicroSD based storage. Most of the loading problems are because of that.

Luckily the Radar doesn't suffer from the same issue.
*
So theoretically speaking, if you are able to swap Mozart's default microSD with a higher class rated card, it should be faster?

Theoretically speaking YES.. but the effort to involved to do so... just get a Radar.. you get a front camera thrown in as well!
*
Now if only MS could tweak it's WP filesystem to support external storage or USB2Go yawn.gif

Just want to test the water, is anyone interested in Nokia Purity HD stereo headset, pink coloured?

QUOTE
Nokia Lumia for RM1750, is that a good price?
It's cheaper by MYR150 than Singapore RRP.

My 2 cent is still better wait for Lumia to land on our shores, due to warranty issue (some of the first batch Lumia has some hardware issue) & you might get lucky of getting a Nokia Purity headset by Monster if you're one of the few early buyers (No guarantee on this though, but I've got mine in Singapore launch. Same gift package has been given out in some europe countries)

Man, can someone just tell me how to get the Samsung Focus S. It is the best windows phone on my opinion, its just hard to get it. =(
*
Samsung official stance: Not possible for non-US consumer to get it from retail channel.
Gray market... I don't know.

That's the way it's meant to work, the whole idea of the Windows Phone navigation is that you're browsing through a site. Therefore if you want to return to an app in a state you opened previously, you just keep hitting back (or use the task switcher) like you do when you're browsing webpages.

If you choose to start the program again you'll always start a new instance unless the app was coded differently. You just need to remember if you want to go back to something, use the Back button.

I would agree to that toast is good pseudo multitasking. But my opinion is that MSFT should vet the application that use toast more strictly, in the sense of the resuming process of the application, to give a better end-user experience.

I'm switching to WP soon and I'll get a debit card for apps payment. Is it totally same with credit card payment or do I need to do some setting upon creating the debit card?
*
Debit card is accepted in Marketplace. But Malaysia's LiveID only allow downlaoding of free apps, no paid apps payment is supported yet.

evilpuppy, is there more confirmation on using Singapore address + postcode but bind with Msia credit/debit card? Last time I tried my card was rejected despite using a valid Singapore address. Maybe things changed d?

yup,  More apps like IPhone & Android.

I personally wish for more quality apps (with metro design) & more WP exclusive apps. Marketplace apps is more than enough for my taste, but the quality of moat apps left much for desire.

Mine updated to 8107. No hitch or whatsoever.
Lumia 800 firmware updated too, to 1600.2483.8106.11500

Stumbled across a comment by Lumia800 user on WPCentral on issue after the update (Bolded lines are mine)

QUOTE
1. Moving tiles long distances on the home screen does not flow properly. You need to drop the tile first before continuing.
2. Keyboard has intermittent delays causing the user to see the same character 2 or 3 times.
3. Critical alarm goes off too early and minutes later the OS battery is no longer critical.

4. Moving between songs there is a loud noise at zero volume and 1-30 levels. While playing a song, lock the phone and wait 5 seconds. Then unlock your phone and quickly move between songs, there is no noise for a few seconds and then it starts again.
5. Sound quality is poor from the loud speaker, Bluetooth and audio jack.
6. Nokia feedback within the settings tab has been limited to once only now. Nokia does not seem interested in customers providing ongoing feedback.
7. The Nokia drive direction voice occasionally stutters, taking about a minute to complete one command.
8. Video play back frames are missed on some videos. Audio keeps working.
9. Battery does not charge to manufactures specification.
10. Battery saver function is not working properly. On HTC HD7, Battery Saver (low) makes a big different.
11. Camera quality is poor for a Nokia phone.
12. Camera is set to macro by default.
13. Video auto focus still needs more improvements.
14. Low volume level is too high from audio jack. High volume level from the speaker is too low. Poor bass levels.

The bold lines seems to be OS issue rather than phone dependent? Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, lets hope the carrier will subsidized much to bring down the Lumia 800 price. Considering for the price of an unlocked set, you can get SGS2 or iPhone...

But I personally think Windows 8 will give more push to WP7 awareness/adoption than Nokia-MSFT alliance. But its a good start smile.gif

Nokia Drive works very fast!  drool.gif And the clear black AMOLED is certainly very nice and put my HD7 to shame.

*
My experience of using Nokia Drive on my Lumia 800 in Penang is rather disappointing. Some major routes are missing, incorrect road directions, buggy & laggy route calculation, virtual no offline POIs... Initial lock on is blazing fast & pretty accurate when static (I speculate is due to GLONASS + A-GPS), but when you're moving, it wasn't that good.

Just want to share some thought on Lumia 800. The charging lid, the speaker placement, the curved glass may not suited to everyone taste. It's still a fantastic phone, but do try it out before hand if possible.

If Lumia wasn't your taste, Omnia W has already landed in Singapore. So you might want to wait a while if you're Sammy's fans.

Yes, that correct. The battery fix is on SG's Lumia 800, way before the OTA update to other region.
