Between 7 days, you can register and they won't take out the meter. If > 7 days meter will be remove.

what I did was call TNB customer service and I gave owner's name and they read me the address to confirm. They also cannot find based on the address alone. Then after confirm address, they told me which TNB branch is in-charge of that area. Go to that area and do your registration.

Find out how much deposit you have to pay. Best is go collect form first because you need to go to Jabatan Hasil for stamping. Fill form and have all your documents ready, then go stamping. Then only go and queue at that TNB branch. I wasted some time go ulang alik :S

And no, saturday and sunday cuti.

good luck!

What you need to bring when you go to TNB are the following:

a. The original copy of your stamped S&P
b. Photocopy of your S&P (for TNB records)
c. Photocopy of your IC
d. A copy of the past electric bill would be helpful - you can get it from your lawyer, they should have a copy as they need to ensure no outstanding amount when the house is handed over.
e. Bring along with you about RM500 (single phase) for deposit and other charges. Should need about RM1k if its 3 phase but i'm not very sure.

Bring those items to the Kedai TNB and in 1/2 hour (depending on the amount of ppl there) you should be done.
Hope that helps give you a clear picture on the process.

TNB account if i'm not mistaken will be registered in your name and not your wife's as your name is the one stated on the S&P. I may be wrong, so pls check with TNB.

No lah. wrong info.

Added on November 23, 2011, 5:18 pmNo, you cannot register electricity under your wife name but there is an exception,

what u can do is that, u can write a letter to Pengurus Kawasan TNB( your kawasan lah)

in the letter saying that you will "mengizinkan" (dunno what english work for that haha)... you wife to register the electricity under her name, and attach together the ICs both of you and the house S&P agreement.

deposit for single phase is RM250. and for three phase is RM500.

but u also will be charge on "terminal connection" for

a) single phase = under 3 batang tiang is free but for more than 3 batang tiang ( RM300 per tiang)
b) three phase = for overhead is RM750 and underground cable RM1500.

sorry just now i gave wrong info, have to verify with my TNBD counterpart as i am TNBT staff. haha.

hope this helps.

Different area different deposit amount? I just did mine recently and have to pay RM300 for single phase + RM3 processing charges.

The documents adrianjc mentioned correct.

I think developer should register your name with lembaga air before they hand over keys.

For syabas its a similar process with similar documents required.
But charges are lower than TNB.

Depends on whether the property was initially registered in the company's name. Check with your lawyer on this as they would be the best to advice.

You don't have to go buy stamp hasil or anything. TNB will do the necessary at the TNB shop. Best is to go yourself, if in doubt just call TNB and they should be able to clarify for you.
