Do you know that how difficult to catch a thief stealing your EBN but do you know how fast the Police release them....some in just a few hours.

Even the Court does not protect you cos we caught a pair of thieves and the police took them to the Police station. To ensure that the Police take action, 20 of birdhouse owners went to Police station to identified them and only to have released on bail later by their buyer.

The Court fined the thieves only Rm800 per person only for stealing from more than 10 BHs with EBN over 20K at least.  So, my advice to those wanting to start doing BH, don't cos why build when you can just take (steal) from the best BH and in case you got caught, pay the fine only and no jail sentence. what is Rm800 fine compare to Rm30K of EBN. 

We shall be expecting the 2 thieves soon after their rest as their fine was paid by their buyer and need to be reimbursed.

Police nowaday are more concerned and interested with issue summons to number plates and dark glass.

Attended EBNIC 2014 at Marriott Putrajaya from 25-26 Nov 2014. Many excellent papers presented on EBN.

Nitrite issue solved. After soaking and cooking, no nitrite left. Much Ado over Nothing.

UPM doing a lot of leading research on EBN. Hope they can get more research funds from the government.

The Chinese and Hong Kong Professors presented many excellent papers. Our local Unis not too bad but got a long way to catch up.

this has been repeated many times over the last few Vs but maybe you overlook it.

Monsoon time is when no bird will stay back at BH and most BHs are either stagnant or find much lesser nests in their Bhs. This is when most BH owners harvest all nests as there isn't many chicks left in the BHs and those left over may even die due to starvation as their parent may find it impossible to return to feed. Cold weather may be also one of the factor causing the death but some chicks do survive these bad weather to fledge.

So, if you find your BH stagnant during these bad time, then you are doing well for many shall find their BHs  lesser or even emptied of nest during monsoon time.

Mine was twice as tall and 2x white & handsome. Went into BH and it took flight without letting me to get an autograph...

Now, Entrance hole is 1/5 the size of the previous one, many spikes, rat glue and fish nets inside to prevent re-visit. So far so good...

Bird trap the best so far but unpleasant sigh for the weak heart so I wouldn't recommend it.  As for smaller entrance, they still crawled in as my friend's BH happened to have 2 in his BH with 6" grills  and his Indo workers have them destroyed as they can't fly out just can crawl in......anyone got" win win" method here?

As for smaller entrance means also smaller space for bird to enter and smaller growth  but still our Big Eyes can enter until too small for either one.

Remember that one need to fly in but the other can crawl in........pening kepala.

Lantern festival coming in August. Let's hope price keep moving upward due to lower supply and decrease of quantity of nest in the BH.
