I'm shocked by what happened this morning. It was a pretty straightforward group for the mancs or so I thought. Then again Basel are a resilient side. They knocked us out some years back as well.

Speaking of transfer rumors, that bloke Shaqiri was immense for Basel last night and he's only 20. Sweet left foot and he worked his arse off.

i'm campaigning bout Xherdan Syaqiri since early season..much much cheaper than Eden Hazard but good enough potential to be a world class player..a player that liv normally buys nod.gif nod.gif

i don't understand why we're that happy with MANU losing?

i'll rather be more concerned at our so called 'glass-ceiling' performance!

as always GK was MOTM...it could easily been 5-0...no surprise there we have the same problem as our national team - finishing!..and why the hell we stopped playing after suarez score??..as if we are soooooooooo afraid QPR will score the equalizer...all we do is tightening the defense and playing on a counter when there is 40minutes left on the clock! shakehead.gif

I'm a bit worried about depending too much on Suarez alone. The lad looks a little exhausted last night. The world cup and copa America must have been taking its toll on him.

If the Gaston Ramirez talks are true, it would provide good cover for Suarez. I heard that both of them have similar style of play.
*
if there is a game when u need prove we are not depending on suarez, then it is last nite game v villa..i'd never seen suarez being sooo lonely & isolated in the 1st half..and we scored 2 goals in that half..still agreed with ur point..we need a better finisher to partner suarez..in the form of a fox in the box striker ala chicarito

Yesterday's game highlighted the deficiency in Villa more than the invincibility of Liverpool, but still take nothing away from the team's pressuring in the 1st half...i saw many movement which i really like to see in modern liverpool football - flick pass, one touch and 1st timer...as i said earlier this season, if liverpool can incorporate more of such movement and develop more understanding amongst players - we will be hard to beat, and will defnitely challenge for the BPL supremacy....I think the next thing to develop for liverpool is, of course scoring and i hope more goals contribution from midfield and defenders, and also how to use the ball after we are 2-3 goals up, we could have play the ball better - remember Arsenal at their best - even if they are 4 goals up - opponent can hardly get the ball off them! Or just like the all conquering Valencia long time ago - they are hard to beat and cant even get the ball from them...
*
yup..i remember arsenal..when they were 4 nil up and suddenly the final score was 4-4 coz they juz dont know how to stop attacking rolleyes.gif

evra after game vs liverpool at anfield rolleyes.gif

Added on December 21, 2011, 9:28 amPoyet brands Man Utd's Evra 'cry-baby' over race storm

Brighton boss Gus Poyet has slammed Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra over his race row with Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

The former Chelsea and Tottenham star spoke out after Liverpool striker Suarez was charged by the FA with racially abusing Manchester United defender Evra during a game at Anfield last month.

Uruguayan Poyet said: "I believe Luis Suarez, it's simple. I played football for seven years in Spain and was called everything because I was from South America. I never went out crying like a baby, like Patrice Evra, saying that someone said something to me.

"I'm surprised, in a really sad way, that he's been charged. It's really sad. I think it's worse to charge someone because you trust one person when you have no proof.

"I'm really sad about this charge because it's going to become too easy. I can make a complaint about any opposition manager and if I take it as far as I can he's going to get charged. Why are we going to take one person's word over another's? It's too risky."

taken from RAWK

Liverpool statement says :-

"We look forward to the publication of the commission's judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation."

So they are going to take it to a higher court if the FA report says anything at all they cant back up with evidence.

"We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United team-mates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken."

That kills off the "he said it at least 10 times" theory and brands Evra a liar

"We would also like to know when the FA intend to charge Patrice Evra with making abusive remarks to an opponent after he admitted himself in his evidence to insulting Luis Suarez in Spanish in the most objectionable of terms. Luis, to his credit, actually told the FA he had not heard the insult."

What goes around comes around. LFC will be making a lot of noise about this.

"LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable - without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.
"It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said: "I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist." The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist".

No one heard it, no one saw it, Evra has a track record of not being credible, Evra and the FA accept that Suarez isnt racist. Where exactly is the guilt here?

If the guilt is nothing to do with racism it must be about abuse and no one but Evra heard or saw any of that and Suarez certainly has not admitted to abusing Evra.

The club should pursue this as far as it can. John Henry should come out and say the club will spend as much as is needed to defend this case all the way. LFC should make the FA rue the day they tried to use one of our players to make a point to Blatter or follow the whims of Bacon Face. I am really brassed off at the judgement but will be even more brassed off if the club takes this lying down and doesnt even attempt a fight back.

never knew that Evra admitted he makes abusive remarks to an opponent before..well that something we can work on...its payback time! rolleyes.gif

i wanna make the thing cleared out..

what kind of crime that suarez been punished?

evra and fa himself said suarez isn't racist, right?

It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'.  The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.

"When the verdict was announced and published on the website of El Pais, the country's leading newspaper, the comments section was full of remarks attacking the "hypocrisy" and "pseudo-moralism" of the English.

When Suarez pulls on the sky blue shirt of his country he is part of a national team which has an unrivalled record of giving opportunities to afro-descendants. In the face of protests from their opponents, Uruguay picked black players in the first Copa America in 1916. Probably the most revered figure in the history of Uruguayan football is Obdulio Varela, captain of the side that won the World Cup in 1950. His nickname was "El Negro Jefe" - the black boss.

"Among Suarez's team-mates these days is Maxi Pereira, who is known as "El Mono" - the monkey. It is a nickname which, apparently, is given and accepted with no offence meant or taken. It appears to be used in the same spirit that Alvaro Fernandez is called "El Flaco", which means skinny.
