You guys shouldn't leave out 14-24f2.8 when talk about weight. It's heavier than 2470! ! tongue.gif

it will become stiff after sometimes.

I compared the 24mm versus the 35mm on MTF, the 35mm sharper! (not to mention cheaper tongue.gif)

35mm is closer to 85mm than the 24mm is... tongue.gif

What makes you think 35 f/1.4 don't give subject isolation? o_O
*
the bokeh given by the 24mm at f1.4 is very unique.
wide view but good isolation.
It gives you the ability to tell the viewer the ambient atmosphere yet isolate them to a certain degree.
35mm is too tight for that kinda job.

if not wrong nikon 24f1.4 is the sharpest 24mm in the market.

Wide angles are Nikon's strong point, not surprising if its the best 24mm around. But it somehow the 24mm still isn't as sharp as the 35mm... well I could go for 35mm instead of 24mm anytime ;-). Not to mention cheaper!
*
yes for wide angle zoom, no for wide angle primes.
canon wide angle primes have been superior for a long time.
nikon is catching up now.

I wonder how true this statement was, Nikon had many great wide angle primes lens even before the 24mm. eg. the 13mm f/5.6, one of the best out there.

sry, i'm talking about modern lens with AF. tongue.gif
example?
canon 14mm f2.8L II
canon 24mm f2.8L T-SE II

without the new 24f1.4 and 35f1.4, nikon would be way behind canon in this category.

The max ISO I use usually 800 and if beyond that also only 1600 which is rare case. Yeah, I understand very well that small aperture and low ISO will lead to high usage of flash power especially bouncing and i-TTL! And yeah, I only use this setting when I'm taking group shots.

I'm trying to change my way of shooting with flash and group shot. Rather than i-TTL, I'll be using Manual setting. Still learning, need time to adapt as I have been used to i-TTL. Even now if I use i-TTL, I'll be using Manual mode to shoot than Aperture Priority.

Wah, the ball room u shoot must be very bright. Most of the ball rooms I shoot in sg need iso 1600-6400. I use f2.8 to f4 most of the time with 24mm on d700

you get NPS membership from getting DX00 and above camera and with a few gold ring lenses if i am not mistaken.
being an NPS member, you get err special service or privileges like equipment service turn around time is faster. get a camera or lens replacement when you sent in yours for service, etc etc.

NPS is not a big thing actually. i dont know about different levels though. i think it's more like who you know. you guys know Futuromic is nikon's biggest distributor in malaysia right? nikon malaysia distribute to klang valley. dan lain lain all belongs to futuromic.

but nikon's marketing strategy do not involve in offering pro or cronies or trying to convert nonac pro to nikon by giving them dirty cheap price on nikon equipments. seriously. unless there is some news that i do not know of. hahaa
*
so easy to get NPS membership in Msia? blink.gif
In SG, you have to be a professional photographer (full time) and need to show your valid portfolio then only eligible for the membership.

hahahaa i think you guys will not believe me if i said i am not an NPS member. heck, i am not even a member on nikon club malaysia online forum.

and i don't have the 30% off. if i had it hor, i will be using d700 or even the d3x, 24 PC-E, 85 1.4, maybe a 14-24, 24-120 edi.

i hope nikon people are not reading this but they don't give low discount to their cronies. i am not saying this because i do not want to help you guys to buy or something but i really don't get privilege like this. if anyone has a 30% off street price (means 50% off RRP) from nikon... i mean, he is either louise pang or joe mcnally lol.

on the other hand, nonac has offers like this. and i was being offered once! they are a lot more aggressive in terms of trying to convert nikonians to nonacians. they used to go to bridal shops, D700 terus change to 5Dmk2, no questions asked. gold rings lenses to L lenses no questions ask. D3s to 1Dmk3/1Dmk4.
*
not sure about msia, but this is definitely not true in sg.
my friend is a NPS member, he told me he can get 20% discount directly from nikon.

20% discount off street price or RRP?
seeing that it's directly from nikon, i guess it's the RRP...
means not much of a discount.
*
Not sure.
He told me he can get the 70200f2.8 vr2 at around s$2.6k. RRP is around s$3.5k
Sounds good to me.

RM 6351.20
(based on XE.com at 2.44 rate)

edit: Shashinki is selling it for RM 6998
*
You should not compare this way.
Sg nikon lens price is higher than msia, e.g nikon fisheye 16mm is around sgd1.2k while penang shops quote me sgd1050.
The street price for the 70200 is around sgd3.2k.(from reputable shops)

Nikon lens is generally cheaper in msia.
Ask him call for price enquiry first. Sg reputable shops contact can be found on clubsnap forum.

Yeap, there is possibility. Cause even the D4 also is prototype only, media not allowed to save the images taken :S...
*
i think the D4 development is pretty much mature/final stage compare to 1dx, otherwise they won't release it to market next month.
the pre-order at amazon sold out after an hour lol.
canon dare not even to release the high iso full size sample photo.
