Hey guys just another question. Do table tennis clubs exist in Malaysia?
When I was in Melbourne there are a few regional clubs. You sign up for a season (say 3 months), are put into a grade and play every week with rankings etc.
From what I can see on google/forums, a lot of people *want* to play TT but either have no place or no friends in which to do so. Is there organised club play available at all?

QUOTE(theng168 @ Jan 5 2012, 08:31 PM) @Asica, hi, sounds like a student huh I'm 29, Aussie expat, trying my hand at entrepeneur QUOTE(jim_jim @ Jan 5 2012, 11:18 PM) snip Cheers for that info re: Star Elite, just what I was looking for. So I can rock up without a training partner and just play socially? Sounds good I will check it out.

Hey guys just bought a new bat from Presports Office. Apparently a cheap all-rounder hehe, could only spend RM330. For any interested its a Butterfly PETR KORBEL-FL OFF blade with Yasaka Mark V one side, Shriver FX on the other. Realised its closer to 9 years since I played, hope I don't get too embarrassed when I finally hit the court again. Was thinking about going down to Star Elite Puchong tonight around 6-7pm. Anyone else from here keen?

Just got back from Star Elite where I met and practised with jim_jim. Was good to meet you man! Thanks for putting up with my very rusty game while I swept out the cobwebs as well as adjusting to my new bat. By the end I hope I was a little more competitive. Still a lot to learn though Any other members here go down to SE? I'm hoping to practice twice a week. Oh and can I say as an expat playing TT in Malaysia for the first time.. its damn hot!! mingyan: Just to share my experience, when I first decided I wanted to learn Table Tennis a little more than 'pub level', I got a decent starter bat and then signed up for some coaching (this was over 10 years ago). At least this way you can be taught some idea of technique or things you can work on. Then yeah, find some friends or clubs you can go to and practice practice practice. I even saw a group coaching session in action the other night at Star Elite, perhaps that could be another option. Of course that path assumes you have some budget to play with. People of course have become quite solid players without any coaching whatsoever; it probably just takes more time and perhaps sets a lower ceiling for your final skill level This post has been edited by Asica: Jan 17 2012, 08:45 PM

Just a question about Star Elite; is there a set number of tables for members/walk-ins to play? I've only been once and 3 of us were using one court. The other 3 were being used by coaching/groups.If there are 4-5 of us there tonight, can we use two tables? Just curious. I'm probably complicating it.

Another good session tonight with Jim and another guy I met Tan.
Anyone know how much the robot @ Star Elite is to use? Think it could be useful for me to book a couple of sessions after CNY. Will sign up to being a member then too.

QUOTE(zarul90 @ Jan 22 2012, 01:18 AM) want to join.. but first game sure i lose Don't worry.. if we play each other.. at least one of us can get 1 win XD Also I think its a round robin, so at least everyone can play a few different opponents. Unfortunately I went to SE tonight but it was full of school kids.. not a spare table in the house. Also apparently the Robot is broken, so I left without my fix.
If anyone is keen for a warm-up before the tournament either this Thursday or Friday let me know!

Big thanks to K2002 for all the organizing work. Congrats to Tommy for being champion. Was great to have a few games and put some faces to the LYN nicknames.
