Hey all. I haven't played since the LYN friendly, keen to get in some strokes. Actually I need to learn how to hit a loop shot, anyways. I can be at Star Elite tues/wed/thurs if anyone wants a hit, let me know.

pingpang - not sure if you made it later the other day, I was @ Star Elite from 6pm-8pm but was the only one there.

Anyone know an English speaking coach I can get 1 to 1 lessons with? SE seem to specialize in young students only. I really need to learn a loop shot, the technique and practice. I feel my game can't go much further without it.

Cheers Jim. I should have mentioned that; its a good deal for such a high level of play. However I think someone at State level or even lower could still help me out. Was hoping for something a little cheaper.

suilow1991: I am always interested in going down to Star Elite. I prefer to get advance notice of others going though, since last few times I went no-one to play with.

Tomorrow at 3pm anyone?

Not to discourage membership, but if you just want to try it out non-members can rock up to SE for RM 8 per session casually.

I believe they have a time table for when 'student classes' are running; I recommend to avoid those times since it is often full and noisy.

Wow, pingpang very knowledgeable about youth scene in Malaysia. Good to encourage the next generation. What about us older people then, some casual competitions for us can? tongue.gif

Maybe we all ask Yeoh very nicely since he did a good job before biggrin.gif

Wow K2002, great work. Put me down.

Just a couple of questions to clarify the rankings/tournament:

1) In April will there be randomly determined matches or you just find an opponent and challenge?
2) Can 'challenges' be made/accepted between two players in the future, assuming 100 point differential, outside of tournament? Just in agreed meeting place? If lower player challenges does the higher player have to accept?
3) If you are the highest ranked player.. you cannot challenge anyone but simply wait to be challenged?
4) If my points drop too far can I get a reset in 2013 biggrin.gif

Anyways I think it is a good idea to have something more long term for people to play for. After all, the more we play the more we all improve.

Also just as my 2c I'd be up for trying Union as the Dragon suggested. Good to be exposed to different venues. Also Viva Mall is very cramped and hot (no offense to patrons/fans of that venue).

I kind of agree with kuntilanak that with the point system in place, a league style fits better than tournament style.

Meaning there are just a set number of rounds ('round robin'), so everyone that turns up knows they will play say 4 matches. This may be better because last time some people travelled to Viva only to get knocked out after 2 matches. This way everyone plays the same amount, and yeah, points are won and lost.

Cheers to K2002 again for hard work.

Let me say an unbiased review, for those that have never been to Star Elite, it is quite easy to find (easier than Uncle Lings for me), there is parking (street and nearby underground which is never full), 5 tables with some air-con. So overall, I think it is quite good happy.gif

Also I'm sure I speak for everyone when I hope that jim_jim can make it this time. Competition is the best way to improve even further right? smile.gif

Its with regrets I have to withdraw from this Sunday. My baby daughter was due on the 23rd this month, so figured I had some time up my sleeve. She arrived last week and its been chaotic ever since! I can't string together 2 hours of sleep at the moment, plus I'm in Melaka, so won't be getting up to KL soon unfortunately. Good luck to all those competing; definitely keen on future events.
