I think is same just for the dock propose both and even sandisk sansa pmp LOD also bypass the internal amp digital audio line-out, audio direct from internal Digital analog converter(DAC) without amping.
Better get an SE xperia phone + iPod touch 
If possible i wanna bring laptop ,amp , headphones there
