anyone here can help to advise what is the best CPU WB out there for i7 2600k? I'm going to order a set of custom WC for my rig(below) and I plan to WC both my cpu and gpu with 1x120Rad(GPU) + 1x360Rad(cpu).

Since I am a noob in WC, can someone explain whether it's a good idea to use 2pcs of above radiator on single loop?

TQ

is it Apogee HD? looks good but if I dont want to watercool my RAM, i guess i dont need to use all 4 slots on cpu WB then. So, only one 360rad enuff for both GPU and CPU? I want to extremely OC both my chips that's why I'm thinking for the best setup that I can build..thanks for advice.

thanks..but not sure if my Haf-x can fit with dual loop WC setup. by dual loop, does it mean we need dual pump and dual reservoir as well aside from dual radiator?

EK Coolstream is a hell thick radiator ...
*
May i know how thick is EK cooltream XT compared to XSPC RX rad? I'm asking because yesterday just ordered EK rad from APES to replace RX rad which I failed to install at the top of my case due to the thickness. So hopefully RX will do its job outside of the case smile.gif

btw guys, is it possible to sleeve the cables ourselves or need to hire an expert for the job? I'm noob here sorry laugh.gif

XSPC RX is thicker

XSPC RX360 = 58.5mm
EK CoolStream 360 XT = 47mm

Sleeving it yourself is more fun, but timing consuming biggrin.gif

QUOTE(sam sam @ Dec 6 2012, 10:18 AM)
if you don't mine you can buy the ex or ax from xspc and run higher speed fans

sleeving is simple
just need to buy sewing pins with a ball at the end
use two pins and push into the connector, then you can remove the wires

don't even need to buy the mod set, i find this method better and cheaper
*
Thanks Owi & Sam, I hope EK Rad with push pull config will fit at the top of my case or else have to find another way to utilize the rad.
Now its time to learn how to sleeve biggrin.gif . But where can I get those mod set/sewing pins? I would gladly search it myself but since I dont even know what to search so need you guys help notworthy.gif

thanks a bunch

I created a modding tool from a hair pin very effective for removing pins like the PSU cable but yet to find a suitable stuff to mod to remove the molex cables & fan cables. But getting the modding kit is a good investment as well if you plan to sleeve again in the future...
*
Thanks, but can you pls advise where can I get the modding kit preferably from Lyn. I can go to Hardware shop but I dont even know what to look for and I believe they dont have this kit so I prefer All-in-one kit for the peace of mind since I'm just a beginner , need to learn a lot from you all sifus nod.gif .

Hi Guys,

Just finished my custom WC setup..what a messy system I build..well at least there's no leak and the temp is good I'd be more than happy smile.gif.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

At the top of RX rad I put up 3 Arctic F12 PWM fans and connect them altogether then I connect them all to a molex to 3pin fan connector..Once the pc turned on, smoke comes out from the cable and it is melted/burned...

I dont think 12v 4pin molex cant handle 3 120mm fans right?

Is there a way for us who uses more than 12 fans to have better cable management e.g using molex to 3pin hub or some other way? I am using lots of 'molex > 3 pins' converter in order to connect afan..please help icon_question.gif

update: ok found the splitter from molex to 4x3pin at frozencpu.com and they even got a molex to 9x3pin fan connectors shocking.gif

blush.gif no other choice..I cannot fit a 1/2" 3/4" fittings on EK-FC7970 due to blocked by 7970's PCB. Since I dont have a thread extender and only got a 45deg rotary so I use it and this is the only way where I can connect between those 2 GC sad.gif....maybe have to drop by APES later to find small size extender.

I am not sure you know this but you are not recommended to run your gc block in parallel due to one being a heat killer another ek. You need to run them in series
*
Thanks everyone for the suggestion, I already placed an order the one that recommended by Kevin smile.gif. Sam, If not mistaken my setup is in series already and not parallel...so do you suggest me to run in parallel instead?

It seems parallel connection will give us better GPU temp for the 2nd card but it needs a pump with a decent head pressure..maybe MCP655 is capable of that, I'll try and share the result later.

If u got that money, u shud change ur casing for such build..coz ur casing is "overloaded" nt so nice 2 see...haha..

Yes, I am thinking of that too. But I dont think there's a big enough casing out there where I can install all the rads inside with push pull config. Initially I'm thinking to get a radbox but APES didnt carry it so I'm stuck with this build. after all this is already a full tower casing, I dont think even 800D will give me more space compared to this. Maybe enough for another rad only. Any suggestions please?

Thanks Pristine, Irie biggrin.gif

the XSPC Tower H2+ looks good, can mount 2x480s + 1x120 rads. Gonna contact the seller and see if can arrange the deal.

thanks guys,

still doing a lot of searching at the moment. I might pass those casings that is not available in Mys. Actually I prefer a Rad Box cause I dont want to do case modding/building sweat.gif. I just want a system that can run 5GHz with highly OC'ed 7970s for 24/7. But if there's no way to reach 5GHz then I guess enough is enough already hehe tongue.gif

sifus, i need your help on my WC loop. before this I set my WC loop as below:

Pump/Res > 360rad > cpu > 360rad > gpu1 > gpu2 > pump/res

and the gpu2 is hotter than gpu1 about 6-8degC during full load. So I add in another 120rad with push fan in between the gpu1 and gpu2 just to cool off gpu2. However the temp difference now become 9-11degC under load sad.gif.

so my question, is it because of not enough pressure from single pump to push and pull the water inside the loop (already set the pump speed to Max)? or another reason since theoretically gpu2 temps should've dropped but instead it increased about 2degC. in other words no improvement at all sad.gif.

Nothing wrong with the system and loop. +-2'c is there.

The sensor differ the reading for each cards.

If the temperature is the concern, changing loop or adding monster radiator wont beat a pc with RX360 in a room with 1hp aircon.

Thanks for the reply notworthy.gif. So that means my single D5 vario is enough for my current WC setup right?

Btw, does any sifus here live in Penang as I would like to ask some expert to mod my case/outside Rads and make it less visible especially those fan cables that really makes this rig looks ridiculous shakehead.gif. Oh yes I would like to ask for help to sleeve my PSU and fans cables as well icon_question.gif

p/s: ok now it is time to spend some $$ for A/C rather than expensive WC stuff hehe biggrin.gif.

Seeking sifus advices here again biggrin.gif. Should I upgrade my WC setup with dual pump? Actually I plan to get a dual bay res w/ dual D5 pump so I just need to find another pump and the res. Is it really needed and will this help improve the flow?

I believe that having 2 pumps is better than 1 coz If 1 pump fail, the other will act as a backup to maintain the flow subsequently protect our cpu/gpus am I correct?

thanx
