Some car dealers do accept credit card for the booking deposit only. And no. It is not possible to pay for your car in full using credit card. Not in Malaysia anyway.

car worth 3xk...max installment period is like what? 36 months?
so each installment comes to about 1k?
if you can afford to pay 1k each month and the card dealer do accept credit card, why not...

No car company/dealer accept credit card as payment method.

Just like Miles posted, only booking fee they allow.

Car dealers or companies onli accept booking fee or deposit by credit card

cc is onli for retail purchases

so any car or house purchasing does not fall under retail purchases

Yes, you can if your car dealer willing to accept payment in full by way of card for the car.

Most Japanese car dealers like Honda and Toyota will tell you they only accept for booking, but you can always negotiate and ask that you allow more to be charged to your card before you sign on the dotted lines. Done that many times over the years.

For cars that are not selling well, car dealers are willing to accept payment in full with credit cards to clear stock. Last time looking at Honda Elysion and the dealer trying desparately to clear stock and willing to accept payment in full by way of credit card.

Auto Bavarian, if not mistaken willing to accept up to RM30K or was it RM40K the last time I asked.

As for Proton, erry, a regular here, mentioned he paid in full with his credit card.

Some car dealers willing to accept payment in full but they will add like 1-2% extra onto the purchase price, and if you are willing to make a fuss and want to fight for your rights, make a call to the card centre in front of the dealer to complain that they want to charge you extra and then see how it goes. That what our AMEX Black card holder reported here when he bought his sports card 2 years back.

I have always been under the impression that it's not possible to charge your car to your credit card in full in Malaysia. Will try that next time i buy a new car biggrin.gif

Can, most dealers will tell you add 1-2% surcharge. Salesman standard reply is credit card only for bookings. I will then insist that he go ask his manager and they will come back and allow me to charge more (not in full) without any surcharge for me to collect points smile.gif

I managed to pay the downpayment of my car using credit card this year. The dealer tried to impose surcharge as it was a substantial amount but I was upfront and mentioned if they can't accept credit card as downpayment then the deal is off. They relented in the end.

Added on November 17, 2011, 9:27 pmI'm wondering if swipe MBB 2 AMEX card for RM40,000 downpayment, I would be getting 200,000TP and eventually redeem RM1000 of cash vouchers! tongue.gif

nowadays get a high limit credit card is not difficult....
i noe bank will charge merchant 1.6~2.0% per transaction , if the car dealer ok with i pay extra 1.6%~2% it would be a good deal.

i'm sure many bank got offering balance transfer , other wise i still can convert my transaction to an easy payment plan xD!~

try Proton main showroom Shah Alam along KESAS and also at Glenmarie too, but I don't think you get any luck with AMEX.

Yes for booking but for downpayment they would say they need to charge minimal merchant fees.

In Cycle & Carriage's case, they waived it when I paid for my car's downpayment finally when I insisted I want to pay by card.

Hire Purchase is limited to 90% (unless of course if your car dealer is able to inflate the price for recond or second hand cars).

If you decide to swipe the whole 10% downpayment with credit card, then to a certain degree, you are getting "100% financing" in the sense that you don't fork out any hard cash.

Used amex plat CC to pay for DP in Ingress 3 years ago , first is booking fee for 10k and another 90k upon collecting the vehicle , have some difficulties when i want to swipe the card for DP but in the end the manager also gave in and let me swipe LOL. Got 200k MR points instantly definitely better than paying cash. Never try before buying a car without loan and pay full with CC so cant really answer this but i know some grey importer accept it.

I heard can pay all in cash (also depend on what card you using).... I got heard before those boss of big company holding Infinite card to swipe for full payment of car and house. But for house, they needed to go bank and swipe at the bank counter then issue a cheque to clear it off on the spot.

not to said that they do not accept. just that the transaction fees need to bear by the dealer is quite a huge amount if the car is expensive....

probably 1.4-2.5% for each transaction of the total paid amount charged by merchant provider

Found this this while searching..
Bumping up this thread!

Planning to use my Maybank Petronas VISA (5x TP due to the smiles promotion) to pay a substantial DP at Sime Darby Auto Connexion PJ... from what I read here it seems like most dealers won't accept CC?

Anyone else had any luck with it? Never mind the full amount of the DP, I'd be happy if I can pay at least 10k using the card. tongue.gif

My friend who owns a shop (dealing with new and used car) has the facility to pay the booking up to 2K with CC (AMEX/VISA/MASTER). If you want to buy it with CC with the shop, normally he charged 2% of total amount but of course, can negotiate the deal, plus 2% is nothing compared to that hire purchase interest, especially if you are taking longer term.

just enquiry Perodua, they dont accept credit card.

Nissan wise they accept visa/master/amex, for 10% down payment. brows.gif

was thinking if down payment RM10k, ask 10 of my fren using AMEX each swipe RM1000.

then cash back RM50 x 10 = RM500 brows.gif  brows.gif  brows.gif

can swipe higher for down payment anot?

haha this is the 1st time i hear about this..personally think the dealer will not accept it coz it will take another 30 days before the bank release the money to the car dealer..if in between the card holder report fraud on the credit card and drive away the car..who should the car dealer chase the money from?

anyway just my 2 sen

Used amex plat CC to pay for DP in Ingress 3 years ago , first is booking fee for 10k and another 90k upon collecting the vehicle , have some difficulties when i want to swipe the card for DP but in the end the manager also gave in and let me swipe LOL. Got 200k MR points instantly definitely better than paying cash. Never try before buying a car without loan and pay full with CC so cant really answer this but i know some grey importer accept it.

I went Ingress today and the sales advisor told me if I pay DP by credit card then I won't entitle any discount on the car price. If I'm paying cash she'll give me discount coz the company need to bear the card charges. So they rather u pay cash and they give u some discounts.

Of course can. Bank draft or bankers cheque is equivalent to cash. Personal cheque also can. But must wait till your cheque clear only they release your car.

I don't see why not. Paying in full and if your credit limit allows it. No issue.

Most of the car dealer won't accept full payment in credit card, unless you are someone "special".

guess what? using Maybank2 cards Amex pay for the card... you can directly go to epicentre redeemed a Macbook Air+an iPad maybe... if it is a BMW yawn.gif
