I use Umobile. The H+ icon comes when got some data upload or download. Otherwise it went into 3G most of the time.
~~crapp~~ you beat me :-P
Yes..Umobile is fast and cheapest in prepaid data plan. For RM28 per month you'll get Unlimited Data + 100 min calls (all network) + 30 sms (all network) + one whole month free calls (Umobile to Umobile). Really worth it...Umobile..FTW..!!!
*
ya... and latest ad says local call rates when in Sg... wow... smile.gif

i'm so tempted to go uMobile, but when found out its related to Vincent Tan, decided not to...

anyway, was in Penang yesterday... checked out Digi outlet @ Queensbay Mall. They said nationwide, Digi out of stocks... *sigh*

speaking of ROMs... sorry la... some of you know i've never really bothered about ROMs. just wondering... will cyanogen be working on a build-up from scratch ROM for Note just like what was done for sgs2?

though i dun own the note and flipcase, i also realised it dun seem practical. it might look nice (like a traditional paper organiser) but i realised... no cut-out to make tasks like answering calls, etc easier... also, when wanna answer calls and put the phone to the ear, the open flip case makes the person look... funny. no?

oh ya... saw a lady holding a phone with a flipcase. quite sure that means it was a note. honestly, if not for the note, i'd have thought it was an sgs2. so... looks like its not that big after all.

but we can always trust Samsung to put on TouchWiz on top and make ICS feel different, no?

Most probably Cyanogen team wont make CM7 for Note but jump straight to CM9 since ICS source code had been released by Google. Can take three to four months before Note get CM9 RC stable rom.
*
but they will work on it...? that will be quite cool since i've heard lots of good things abt it (for the sgs2 anyway)...

Anyone found a DiGi store that actually has stock for Note?
*
was just informed that digi replenished their stocks. probably take another 1-2 more days to ship to outlets. however, can now order online. previously, the message 'out of stocks' would appear. now no more...

*
yes... i recall the same process was mentioned in the sgs2 thread... but can't remember which version. however, at that time, the poster was even nice enough to share the email address of the person in SME that we can email for followup (or sth like that).

you can try posting in sgs2 thread or pray and hope someone remembers the exact location of that post. this is one probably with multiple V... search function becomes tedious.

why everytime i open there is " google maps navigation is not yet available in this location " ?
*
i believe that is the standard message to mean voice navigation is not available. you can still have the text directions but not voice.

i recall it was due to some 'legal' issues... Google can't provide the voice navigation service for MY. but rooting the phone and installing some hack should enable it.

played around with the note and i felt it was a bit laggy compared to sgs2.

example... when saving draft sms and quickly pressing back... note can sometimes pause for a second or two. no such issue with sgs2.

i suspect its got to do with the bigger screen -- probably more processing power needed... some apps also launch slightly slower. its not a major laggy thing and if you're not fussy, you probably won't even notice it.

wanna ask... i installed mobo player but unlike sgs2, it does not prompt me to install another component (codec). is it still necessary on the new version of mobo player? i ask coz the same files i can play on sgs2, i currently can't play on the note.

if yes... there's Arm v7, Arm v6, etc... which one?

Right ! I only put on the live wallpaper just to show off to my iphone friends !!! My favorite live wallpaper is Koi live wallpaper - beautiful and stunning graphics
https://market.android.com/details?id=fishn...cG9uZF9mcmVlIl0.
*
ya, this is one nice live wallpaper... smile.gif

anyway, just sharing some other bits about note, compared to sgs2...

* note's screen somehow is not as 'vibrant' as the sgs2. but its not pixelated, etc like what some websites have mentioned about pentile, etc... maybe you can see it when the image is blown up or you look very closely with magnifying glass. so far, i dun notice different in terms of jagged edges, etc... but the screen just not as vibrant/ colourful.

* i think somehow this note can't play movie files bigger than 4GB. that's what i'm suspecting right now but no time to test further... same file on same SD card... could be played on sgs2. both tested using mobo player with armv7 addon.

update1:
battery life... hmmm... i guess have to let battery 'calibrate' a bit... battery down to 60% since unplugged from wall at 6am this morning. but maybe today busy downloading stuffs to the phone via wifi. also had a factory reset. no gaming and browsing yet. only 1 account setup so far got email. i've not even started with the other accounts and also setting up twitter.

first thing you get an android phone - disable the Live Wallpaper!!  You just need to use a Live Wallpaper when you are going to a gathering with Apple phones users.  tongue.gif  Other than that, please use a dark colour wallpaper to achieve max battery life - especially true for AMOLED screen.  smile.gif

oh, i was hoping for some sites and i can quickly check it out... coz read some tuturials (i think on lowyat forum) about wallpaper and it dun seem easy (so worry some google results i get might not give me good quality wall paper).

also, i wonder why samsung no include a pure black wallpaper? smile.gif

Anyone willing to organize a bulk buy from this website ?
Noticed they've got quite a number of nice cases
*
undecided on a case yet...

for the flip case... it would have been nice if the back was also 'rubbery'/ leather-like... and even better if it covered the sides as well... as it is... not i put the note screen face down (with flip case closed)... coz if put face up... then the back might get scratched...

lol.... i guess you will need to "boh song" for quite a while coz many of us still searching for the "perfect" SP.

it is normal to pay for overpriced accessories when we are shopping for gadgets - i also pay much higher for a neck strap for my DSLR when i bought it at the camera shop coz I thought the shop will give me better price as I am buying it together with the DSLR but apparently all those gadgets shop will sell you the main items at normal price (coz you can easily verify the prices from some other places) and then recoup additional profits from the accessories.  whistling.gif  So lesson learnt - buy only the main gadget from shop and all others accessories from LYN only.  laugh.gif
*
hahaha... ya, some more, i din even get to find out exactly what it was... the guy at the SEP in IOI just said its good and normally selling rm90... now selling rm60 to me...

now that i think back... i could just be a nillkin SP... i check on the net... wah... it looks like a cheap SP... really lagi boh song now... sad.gif

but i dun blame anyone except myself... i also dunno why i agree to buy it... hahaha... maybe that time... blur liao after holding the note.

QUOTE(Gilthoniel @ Nov 22 2011, 08:39 AM)
hey guys, i'm thinking of upgrading from my SGS2 to the Note... is it recommended? or any of u feel it's a wee bit too huge? My hands are pretty huge, pockets aren't though... LOL

BTW, any idea which Digi has stock for the Note? Been trying to get phone numbers for their stores but even Digi helpline won't give me the numbers saying that I need to walk in to enquire about stock. That's just mad... Am busy working and jamming through everywhere just to find out about stock is pure madness when phones are available everywhere... ridiculous
*
digi should already have stocks since last thu night... unless they sold out again. however, for me... i finally decided not to buy from digi coz for samsung models, you cannot change or reject the goods even if it's got 1 dead pixel. you'll have to bring it to samsung but 1 dead pixel is NOT considered a defect by Samsung. for me... screen so small... if suay2 got 1 dead pixel... have to live with it... which i can't. so, consider the extra $$$ paid to SEP as $$$ to buy exra 1 year warranty lor. plus, SEP allows me to check the phone thoroughly first, including pixels and pen check, before buying it.

size... the note is quite big. my hands are not big enough to do proper single hand operations like swyping, unlocking screen, etc... with sgs2, i can do all i mentioned with ease. but with note... have to adjust hand position first before i could do all that. even then... i can't grip the phone safely. so for note... its a 2-hand operation.

heck, using pattern lock on note can be ridiculous if you're using the pattern at the left most side (assuming you're right handed). for me... too far to reach the other side of the phone. also, lucky that the new interface on note dun require sliding from one end of the screen to another to unlock or answer calls.

yup recommended. Did the same thing of swapping from a sgs2 to a Note. At first it felt a bit too big but in a day or two u will find that the sgs2 is way too small haha. So far, no regrets and quite happy with the decision made.
*
yes... agreed. screen wise... once you are adjusted to the size of the note... look back at sgs2... wah, sgs2 become so small -- especially thru when reading ebooks, etc...

QUOTE(un_id @ Nov 22 2011, 03:16 PM)
i have a question regarding the Reader Hub apps in Note.

The Reader Hub powered by Kobo. i'm intended to buy some books thru it. but my concerns, after i buy it, is the book will only be available in the Reader Hub apps only? can i store it somewhere else? for example, can i transfer the purchased book into my laptop? or, if later i changed device to other  which don't have Reader Hub/Kobo, will i be able to retrieve my books?

anyone can advice?
*
if i'm not mistaken, it should work -- since you need to create a login (for kobo).

i have previously downloaded books on sgs2 and when i signed into kobo in reader's hub on note, all my previously downloaded books appeared and began downloading.

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Nov 22 2011, 10:13 PM)
They are not cross compatible. Kobo reader doesn't allow side loading of other ebooks to be read in it. Your only option is Kindle. Use calibre to convert the ebook to .mobi and side load it into Kindle app.
*
actually, u can add other epub books. smile.gif

you just need to let kobo detect the epub file first. i had one epub file on my SD card. when i click on import function in kobo, it will ask for permission to scan... allow it... and shortly after that, the epub is detected and added to my shelf (i think it will actually ask you what books to add).
